Shan In Japan: I can Identify...
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015/04/i-can-identify.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. My friend just posted a post about repatriating. I could definitely identify with each of the things in this list. Click here. To read the original post. This is the one that has been quite convicting for me recently. When you see the place you have always called home through a different set of lenses you return to it with a different perspective. 8220;These people just don’t get it.”. You are not the first. Shan In Japan: February 2015
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Thursday, February 26, 2015. I remember as a child knowing lent had started by the school lunch menu. Every Friday during lent the school served fish for lunch. Growing up in a baptist church, I don't remember doing much with Ash Wednesday or lent. I remember some kids from other church backgrounds gave up things like bubble gum or candy bars. I never really understood the giving something up idea. As I have progressed (I hope! As I have wo...

http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Saturday, January 24, 2015. Our church plant is coming up on an exciting milestone. We have been worshipping together in our current location for 6 years! We have had a wonderful time learning and growing together. I am thankful to God for His work in my life, in the life of His church, in the lives of the people who attend our little gathering. Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Awaiting a New Book. The sample was way too short! We all have diff...

Shan In Japan: July 2014
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Tuesday, July 1, 2014. July 1, 1967. Today, July 1, is a special day in our family. It is the day my parents said, "I do." The day they promised to spend the rest of their lives together. The day our little family took flight. Forty-seven years. My parents have had forty-seven years together as a married couple. They have had many joys, some sorrows, lots of fun, a bunch of challenges. However, grace abounded. When two people have been toge...

Shan In Japan: October 2014
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Friday, October 31, 2014. I know I go on about nature and post pictures of nature often. I do because it is one of the main ways I connect with God. When I am in nature, surrounded by nature, I feel closer to God, like He is walking with me. I enjoy chatting with God as we walk, run, or sit together in His beautiful creation. Sunset over the canal. Sunset over the pond. Arch over a different pond. Looking up into a palm tree. Everything is ...

Shan In Japan: A little review
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-little-review.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Sunday, May 10, 2015. As I was preparing for my most recent newsletter, which will be coming out soon, I was looking through pictures from the last quarter. I set aside several to use in my newsletter, however, I didn't have enough room. So, I thought I'd share some here. Our friend Shoppi sharing at our Ladies' Lunch. Even Mrs. Naka's granddaughter enjoyed the dessert! Origami fun- every other month at the nursing home behind our church.

Shan In Japan: Still Praying?
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015/03/still-praying.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Four years ago today an earthquake shook below the sea just off Japan's northeast coast. The moving earth caused the ocean to react in an enormous tsunami. That tsunami flooded a nuclear power plant. We call it a triple disaster. I am not sure we can label the disasters of that day with a number. If we did, it would be much larger than three. Those numbers are not just statistics. They are important. I am sure oth...

Shan In Japan: Believe
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015/03/believe.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Today's word for my lent photo challenge is believe. Today I was asked by an English student if I believe the stories in the Bible are true. I replied with a resounding "yes! And that I would not be a missionary if I did not believe the Bible is true. Then we read the beginning of the next chapter of Mark which includes, in my opinion, one of the most hope-filled statements in the Bible. "He has risen! The most be...

Shan In Japan: Almost!
http://shanaweena.blogspot.com/2015/05/almost.html
Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Friday, May 29, 2015. This has been a long month. Many great things going on, though. Bible studies, preaching, teaching, music, visits with friends, etc. Today I took a Sabbath day. I was doing pretty well at doing this weekly. However, the past couple of weeks have found me doing too much, and sometimes not prioritizing well. So, after a few minutes of prayer, I headed to the water to walk and enjoy spending time in my 'happy place.'.
