This page will be used to provide the project description and an index for blog posts and other files. Bede’s Abbreviated Psalter is a collection of abbreviations of every psalm in order. These abbreviations range from a half a line, just a few words, to half a dozen verses for the longer psalms or just those he valued. In effect, Bede created a new prayerbook from verses of the psalter. Understanding why he created the abbreviated psalter and how it was to be used is the goal of this project. Review Bed...

Captivated by the Cross. June 1, 2013. I just absolutely love this photo. I’ve been captivated by this image since I found it earlier this week. It was taken by David W Coigach and posted at deviantART. Dumfries and Galloway (Southwest Scotland), this imagery seems so right for Heavenfield with the ravens circling overhead. Ok, so I’ll admit heavenfield didn’t have a stone cross, which seems really odd, but I guess a miracle working wooden cross was enough! On Antiphons →. Captivated by the Cross. Sorry,...
Red Easter Eggs | Selah

April 7, 2009. Mary visits the Roman emperor and greets him with “Christ has risen”. The emperor replied that Christ can no more rise again than this egg can turn red. At that point the egg in his hand turned blood red. She then continued to preach Christ’s resurrection to the stunned emperor. This is the most common story I have heard and it is only associated with Mary Magdalene. Angelico’s Agony in the Garden →. 6 thoughts on “ Red Easter Eggs. April 7, 2009 at 12:59 pm. Hopefully this blog will be part of the conversation that leads us to new acts as today's apostles. Friday, April 29, 2011. Friday in bright week: the life-giving spring. One of the many wonderful things about living in eureka springs is, of course, the springs. so i am particularly pleased that on friday in bright week the icon of the theotokos as the "life-giving spring". Hopefully this blog will be part of the conversation that leads us to new acts as today's apostles. Monday, February 14, 2011. Hanging out with abraham on his feast day. I've been reading the book of genesis since epiphany, and i've reached the stories of abraham. i may never get through them, they are so rich. and since today is his feast, i thought it would be a good time to try to clarity some of my findings from his stories, and posting a blog usually helps me clarify my thought. Hopefully this blog will be part of the conversation that leads us to new acts as today's apostles. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Rogation days: taking the prayers of the earth to heaven. One tradition expressed on rogation days is prayer for crops, for agriculture, for 'the garden.' in many places there are processions around the fields, and prayers for rain in due season, and general fecundity. And then we heard a sermon which probably pitched us the hope of peace, or the need to work for peace, or some such thing that is several notches below peace. and now it's the following monday, and we go back to watching our sheep. Searching for Sunday on the Wilderness Road. April 23, 2015. I have been a fan of Rachel Held Evans since I read her first book Evolving in Monkey Town. 2010) Soon I was following her blog and when the opportunity arose this winter, I was able to get an advance copy of her newest book Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving and Finding the Church. I'm a middle-aged Christian musician who thinks the two Great Commandments, the Golden Rule, and the Great Commission pretty much cover how human beings ought to live together with God and one another. BLAME not my Lute! For he must sound. Of this or that as liketh me;. For lack of wit the Lute is bound. To give such tunes as pleaseth me;. Though my songs be somewhat strange,. Speakin...

In A Sentence .org. The best little site that helps you understand word usage with examples. Psaltery in a sentence. The sê, or psaltery, is made on the principle of the chin, and like that instrument has been made the subject of numerous allegorical comparisons. In the Middle Ages there was an instrument called the psaltery, apparently some sort of a four-sided harp strung with metal strings. There is no indication of psaltery having accompanied the recitation of canonical gāthās. Use bats in a sentence.

De la terre au ciel, et au delà... - Psaltery
R L Stevenson 1879.
