Just My Garden: some greens or should I say, leafy veggies
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2013/11/some-greens-or-should-i-say-leafy.html
A journey with my garden. Saturday, 23 November 2013. Some greens or should I say, leafy veggies. Sorry, I broke all my new year resolutions- fertilizing my plants regularly, watching out for pests, posting updates regularly and all that. What with something or the other cropping up, I just had enough energy to make sure that my plants don't die on me. Still lost a few this year :(. To keep my perennials company, I sowed some veggies seeds and now have something to be happy about :). These plants have lo...

Just My Garden: September 2011
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
A journey with my garden. Sunday, 11 September 2011. One plant which I love during the dark monsoon days is Sunset Bells. It is also called Black Flamingo or Copper Leaf. This plant needs no sun to flower and has lovely brown foliage which sets off well against the monotonous green in my garden. The flowers are yellow-orange with bright orange sepal cups which last quite a while. The nectar guides are prominent, the deep orange lines on the yellow petals are striking. Links to this post.

http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
A journey with my garden. Friday, 23 December 2011. Herbs and spices- Mint. This is my first post on herbs and spices. I will try to cover some of those plants which are used for flavoring dishes, have medicinal benefits or are grown as vegetable. Herbs The term immediately reminds us of exotic plants used sparingly for their flavor and/ or medicinal qualities, to be grown with great care and patience if one is to have good results. Belongs to the genus Mentha. Of the family Lamiaceae. Pudina is used in ...

Just My Garden: April 2012
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
A journey with my garden. Monday, 23 April 2012. Can somebody identify this Basil for me? Is this Thai Basil? It is a very small plant, say 6 inches tall and has a shrub-like appearance. The leaves are aromatic. It flowered some time back, probably because I did not prune it - the purplish cluster is the start of the inflorescence which has white flowers. I have some seeds also, which are very small and black. Then I will start wondering how this plant came to my garden :). Links to this post.

Just My Garden: July 2012
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
A journey with my garden. Friday, 6 July 2012. The latest from my garden. Here's the latest from my garden. My first baby corn! I could not resist removing it the day the silk turned brown. Result- baby corn. Frankly speaking the taste was not all that great, but then I have never cared much for baby corn, preferring the mature corn or 'bhutta' as we call it- roasted over hot coals and seasoned with butter and lemon. ahhh heaven! I will harvest the next one at a more mature stage when the silk dries off.

Just My Garden: harvesting turmeric
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2013/02/harvesting-turmeric.html
A journey with my garden. Wednesday, 20 February 2013. I had just finished transplanting some tomato plants and was about to clean up when I decided to take the plunge and empty the turmeric pot. The plant had been showing signs of drying up even with regular watering. So in went my spade to loosen the soil. Well, I was not very careless as no gardener ever gives up hope. The lengths we go to! The stub of the plant with one root attached went back into the same pot after refreshing the soil with cow dung...

Just My Garden: January 2013
http://just-my-garden.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
A journey with my garden. Wednesday, 30 January 2013. Yes yes, I know. Its been almost one month since the new year started, but for my garden, the year started late. I cleared out many overgrown and straggly plants, mostly thai basil and holy basil. I did not have the heart to remove them when they were seedlings, hence had to pay the price of them taking over my rose pots. I have now transplanted them into suitable containers and hope to get a good harvest. :-). Sounds like a tall order. Rosemary, yet ...
