Mark David Milliron and friends on education, innovation, leadership, learning, and living well. Thursday, August 03, 2006. Learning and Living Well and Free. I spent the day yesterday with a passionate group of educators—career and technical program leaders, teachers, and reachers serving in the Orange County Public Schools in Florida. Monday, November 20, 2006. Who Will You Push? This is the message that I shared with our National Technical Honor Society members last Friday). We are all destined to leave some kind of mark. We are all meant to walk a certain path at a certain time, in a certain direction for a certain purpose. Sometimes we miss our mark and sometimes, without a certain push in the right direction, we might never find the path we are to follow. So, what is the point? Posted by Diane Culpepper @ 7:36 AM. At Wednesday’s f...

Monday, April 09, 2007. One of the things I like the best about project based learning. Is its relevance and usefulness to students. Project based learning. If you haven’t heard about the project that many of our students on campus have been involved in, then let me tell you! Some of the best projects are those that are interdisciplinary, student-centered, and integrated with real world practices. Students had the opportunity to solve problems as they implemented their ideas and solutions. A spec...Is mo...

Thursday, March 29, 2007. On the Oprah show, Grammar Girl shared some tips that I want to pass on to you. Affect vs. Effect. Affect" is a verb, and "effect" is a noun. The mnemonics "r aven. Ue" can help you remember: a. Who and whom: "Whom" refers to the object in a sentence, and "who" refers to a subject in a sentence. If you answer with "him" use "whom" and if the answer is "he" use "who.". Anyway, you might want to check out Grammar Girl's Web site at http:/ grammar.qdnow.com/. Follow What You Love.

Sunday, February 25, 2007. Winter Park Tech is Going Online! Winter Park Tech is going online! Although online learners have a great deal of control over the time, place and pace of their education, they may be less motivated due to a lace of face-to-face contact with their teachers and fellow students. They may feel there is a lack of feedback from their teachers. Online learners may feel isolated or may have trouble with the technology and wonder where they turn for help. If you have an interest in mov...

Monday, September 25, 2006. The Winter Park Tech Story. I have been invited to attend the Winter Park Rotary meeting Monday to share the Winter Park Tech story. I spent a good bit of time on Sunday trying to decide how to tell the 110 or so Rotarians about us in 20 minutes or less! Since there are still people (even in Winter Park) who say, "I never heard of Winter Park Tech," I am happy for the chance to tell some more people about our school. Do you think I can do it in 20 minutes? I will let you know!
