A Bird's Eyeview

Friday, March 2, 2012. I was enchanted by the gentle puffs of cloud floating all around me. They were the fluffy grey monsoon clouds, threatening to erupt any time. We were on Kumaraparvatha, the second highest peak of Western Ghats. As the cold mountain winds propelled the clouds forward, I could feel myself engulfed in a moisture laden mist. As the clouds moved away, my hazy vision gradually cleared, rendering me temporarily disillusioned. I must say a truly mesmerizing view and a memorable monsoon trek.

A Bird's Eyeview: August 2010

http://www.roshniv-abirdseyeview.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 15, 2010. What are Indian festivals without it's riot of colours, ambrosial food and family gettogethers. Deeply entwined with mythology and religion, festivals are nothing but a means to human bonding. This pic was taken at our home during Ugadi. And on this Independence Day, I am proud to be a part of our country's rich and varied heritage. Saturday, August 14, 2010. Party on the Papaya tree. The cacophony outside drew me to the windows. Behold! Labels: In my Backyard.

A Bird's Eyeview: Party on the Papaya tree

http://www.roshniv-abirdseyeview.blogspot.com/2010/09/party-on-papaya-tree.html

Saturday, August 14, 2010. Party on the Papaya tree. The cacophony outside drew me to the windows. Behold! Papayas when they ripen, are party-time for birds. Our neighbouring house has many papaya trees in their backyard. And when the fruit ripens, I will pray fervently that the neighbours shouldn't notice the ripened fruit and pluck it away :-) Otherwise, I will miss my golden bird-watching opportunity. Labels: In my Backyard. Quite natural party :-). October 8, 2010 at 2:58 AM. Its a rufous tree pie.

Thursday, January 28, 2010. A face painter at SAARANG, the Cultural mishmash of IIT Madras. Colour me bright,. Colour me happy,. Colour me vivid, with the hues of life. PS: See the cute red hair clip :-). Tuesday, January 5, 2010. King of Good Times. Kingfishers are friendly birds. They are neither scared by humans, nor by crows who generally bully the rest of bird community. This one actually posed for my pics. It tilted it's head and looked at me through it's gleaming eyes. A Bird's Eyeview: February 2010

Thursday, February 18, 2010. He strolled through the sultry beach, weary and uninspired, painting a rainbow of colours as starry eyed kids gazed at him dreamily. Saturday, February 13, 2010. A temple at Manali and a Sanayasin at it's threshold.Slices from the memorable trip of December 2008. What is it that links Himalayas with spirituality? Why is it that our mythologies are deeply entwined with the Himalayan ranges? I wonder. Why do yogis seek enlightenment up on the mountain peaks?

A Bird's Eyeview: Go Green

http://www.roshniv-abirdseyeview.blogspot.com/2010/04/go-green.html

Monday, May 24, 2010. Do you love green? The green of those glistening leaves after the rain. The green of the seaweed afloat on water. The green of the mehndi adorning the bride. The green of that grasshopper in your garden. The green of the bee-eater bird on your guava tree. The green of the curry-leaf garnishing your food. The green of those peas, fresh out of it's pod. The patriotic green on our Indian tricolour. Do you think green? The green that is in your heart. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Flyaway Mind: August 2006

http://roshniv.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Posted by Flyaway Mind. Today is my sister's bday. So this post goes out as an exclusive dedication to my chweet sis. Happy Bday Chechiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Her bday is quite a special one; since she embarked upon this earth on a Thiruvonam day. The most auspicious day celebrated by mallus all over the world. So although the date falls on 26th, we used to bash it out on Onam, the day which rejuvenates the nostalgic memories of the warmth of family gettogethers, vibrant colours of pookkalam. I being the youngest...

About Roommates and Smugglers. Posted by Flyaway Mind. So it has been exactly 1 month since I shifted to a new accomodation. It is a comfy place 5 minutes away from my office and most importantly near to the so-called-happening place in Bangalore - The Forum .Apart from that, it is the most boring-to-death place you can ever find. I live in that hole all alone. Then she looked at me slyly "Hope you wont be offended by my preferences. I wear minimal clothes". Interesting indeed! Not that I know of. HmmmFi...

Flyaway Mind: June 2006

http://roshniv.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Posted by Flyaway Mind. It was my roommates Bday. This time, contrary to usual, we hadn't equipped ourselves with eggs and tomatoes for the midnight bash. It all started at 12'o clock, with waking up the Bday Babe by bursting balloons right over her ears. She bounced out of her bed, yelling that her eardrums were no longer functional. Then we started singing.err. howling bday wishes and hogging yummy yummy pastries. NOW WE HAD TO CLEAN OUR ROOM :-(. QG: you have tomatoes? View my complete profile. This w...

Flyaway Mind: March 2006

http://roshniv.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Posted by Flyaway Mind. Though at the end, my clothes looked like the aftermath of a vibrant “ holi” celebration, the ‘masterpiece horse’ I believe can be called a decent creation . So it is now all set to be framed and hung to fame. Now I can’t wait to try out the other Fevicryl Hobby Kits . ha ha… I can hear a heave of sigh escaping from my friends…. I never forgave my father for this act of cruelty, which shattered my young budding heart! View my complete profile. Designed by: Ray Creations.

World of Books- A Tag. Posted by Flyaway Mind. Had tagged me to ponder on the world of books. And there is a slice of my life associated with each of the books. This is my first tag and here it goes. 1) One book that has changed my life. 2) One book that you have read more than once. 3) One book that you would want on a deserted Island. 4) One book that made you laugh. I have not read many rib tickling books lately .The only humorous tales I read recently are the ones from ‘Tinkle Digest’. I have always be...

Flyaway Mind: April 2006

http://roshniv.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

Posted by Flyaway Mind. So I’m back after a luxurious 5 days at home. Nowadays, five days have become an extravagance, which I can’t afford. Sigh! And I feel nostalgic about those long lost college days, when mass bunking was considered to be our birth-right. We unearthed many of my old albums and autographs from the cupboard. How good it felt flipping through those old class photos. Some were real funny…. And the school autograph was filled with some hilarious stuff. View my complete profile.

Flyaway Mind: Vishu of a different kind

http://roshniv.blogspot.com/2012/04/vishu-of-different-kind.html

Vishu of a different kind. Posted by Flyaway Mind. It was a Vishu. Eve three years back, our first Vishu. After the wedding. M was still at IITM hostel those days and I had joined him at Chennai to celebrate the festival together. Since we were staying in guest house, it was arduous to follow the traditional rituals viz, kani. Not to be disillusioned, we decided to arrange the Vishu kani. By all means. We raked our grey cells to come up with an authentic kani. First, we needed a taalam. The lamp was ready.

Battle of Hearts and Minds. Posted by Flyaway Mind. It has been quite a while since I have been bored with the routine weekend hang outs. Two weeks back a friend invited me to the 'Tri-Continent Film Fest' at Bangalore. Though many people think it crazy, I absolutely love watching contemporary parallel movies and movies with a strong sense of direction. About 20 award winning movies were screened during those two days. The movie derived it’s name from US president President Lyndon B. Johnson&#8...US sold...

With Love from India. Posted by Flyaway Mind. I was rummaging through the old drawer in search of a lost novel, when I hit upon a neat stack of letters at the bottom. There were multi coloured envelopes, affixed with quaint little stamps of USA. It has almost been a decade now. I fell into a retrospective mood…. Like many contemporaries, Erin Noble’s India represented a land of tigers and snake charmers. Probably, Americans watched too much of Discovery Channel. It must have been real hard ...We exchange...

Where the rain is born. Posted by Flyaway Mind. It rained heavily in Bangalore on friday. We were having Ethnic Day celebrations at office terrace, when the menacing thunderous clouds rolled up and it began raining cats and dogs.Heavy pellets splashed on us from the tarpaulin sheet overhead. I was traveling home that night. And in Kerala. The monsoon was setting in with all its ferocity . My home is on the banks of river Periyar. But then unknown to my family , I had eloped several times with my best fri...

Posted by Flyaway Mind. A birding trip to Kokrebellur had been on my mind, ever since I heard of this exotic village where migratory birds flock in year after year during this season. So last weekend, we were off to Kokrebellur, 80kms from Bangalore, zooming off through Bangalore-Mysore highway at sunrise. Flight of the Painted Stork. A canal feeding from the lake runs through paddy fields on the opposite side of the road. Village women were seen washing clothes along the canal sides. Spotted few...An ol...
