Sailing Jeannius

No, we’re not dead (obviously, at the time of writing anyway), and Jeannius hasn’t sunk or anything but a lot has happened since the last entry.  At first I didn’t quite know how to continue to an end as I didn’t really know what the end was, so I just left it. However, too many people have asked why I didn’t finish, so here it is. We accepted an offer on Christmas Eve and the sale eventually went through in early January this year.  Jeannius is no longer called Jeannius and will no longer fly t...We wil...

Sailing Jeannius: June 2012

http://sailingjeannius.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Back to the Caribbean: 30/06/12. Well, a lot of land and air miles have passed beneath me since the last time I wrote but I make no apologies for that.  After all, the title of the blog is ‘Sailing Jeannius’ … and I wasn’t! Ime’ theme again.  It wouldn’t be so bad if they would just keep you informed.  Still the Sauvignon Blanc in the executive lounge is good and cold and eventually we are airborne. 160; Where do they think we have been between the tarmac and the terminal? Sailing Jeannius: October 2011

St Barts to the BVIs: 13/10/11 – 17/10/11. Photo:  Billy-no-mates in Gustavia, St Barts. Anyway, the plan doesn’t work and Debbie and I hit the shops – first stop – Bulgari – Debbie has her eye on a particular piece of jewellery but they don’t have it in stock.  She has to make do with a single pearl necklace instead. Photo:  Mike and a moment. Photo:  Sweet dreams, Fred? I catch him later that evening, calling out to the ladies of the night – the feline type of course – trying to get them to...160; I ca...

Sailing Jeannius: March 2011

http://sailingjeannius.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Day 449: Grenada Marine – 31/03/11. As usual, when we arrive at the boatyard, no one is there working on the boat.  We have been assured that things will get going but there is definitely no evidence of this until later in the morning when someone actually turns up to finish cleaning the hulls. 160; They all knock off at 4 pm.  But obviously someone wants the overtime because a few minutes later he arrives and starts work. Photo:  Progress at last. 160; We might just be in the water tomorrow after all.

Sailing Jeannius: Day 119: Jacksonville to St Augustine, Florida – 09/11/12

http://sailingjeannius.blogspot.com/2012/11/day-119-jacksonville-to-st-augustine.html

Day 119: Jacksonville to St Augustine, Florida – 09/11/12. It’s a rocky old night.  Like Savannah, the heavy traffic continues through to the wee hours but unlike Savannah, they seem to go at full pelt and create a huge wake rushing across the river to us on the outside of the marina, sending us bucking like a little bronco.  I do not appreciate this. Photo:  Flat calm – it must be time to go! Photos:  Strange water outside of St Augustine. 160; Now I see why they say not to attempt this inlet in anythin...

Sailing Jeannius: November 2012

http://sailingjeannius.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Days 134-140: St Augustine – 24/11/12–30/11/12. Well another week has passed, much in the same vane – work and wandering.  We promised ourselves that we would make sure that each day we spent some time enjoying ourselves by going out and seeing the sight and although we have done that, we haven’t done any where near as much of the enjoying side as we should have done. I have discovered just how much I like wood turning and have gradually been buying up some rather lovely bowls to take home.  I c...Natura...

Unsinkable 2: British Virgin Islands Family Sailing day 1/10

http://blog.unsinkable2.com/2013/01/british-virgin-islands-family-sailing.html

Adventures of the Skipper and Crew of the sailboat Unsinkable 2. Sailing inland lakes and distant oceans. British Virgin Islands Family Sailing day 1/10. Bareboat sailing with 6 kids is an experience unlike any other trip I've taken in the BVI. The kids, age 6-18, uncovered a world of wonder and opened my eyes to another dimension of exploration here. We chartered with Conch Charters, and sailed a Privilege 435 Catamaran, Jeannius. For a week and a half. It was an absolutely fantastic experience. The boa...
