충치는 우리가 음식을 섭취하고 남은 당분이 치면세균막(plaque)내 세균에 의해 분해되면서, 이때 나오는 산(acid)에 의해 치아표면이 탈석회화(demineralization)되고 치아의 유기질성분이 용해되는 과정을 말합니다. 충치가 생기면 치아에 검은색 띠가 생길 수 있으며, 어떤 경우는 눈에는 안보이고 X-레이에서만 보일 수 있습니다. 초기에는 치아가 민감해지며, 특히 찬물이나 단것에 의해 아픈 것이 증가할 수 있습니다. 충치가 심해지면 몹시 아프고 치아가 부서질 수도 있습니다. 충치를 제거하게 되면 충전을 하게 되는데 이는 치아의 원래 형태대로 재현하여 기능을 회복시켜주는 역할을 하게 됩니다. 충전에는 여러 가지 재료가 쓰여지고 있으며, 선택은 충치의 진행 정도, 치아의 위치 (앞니 or 어금니), 심미성, 경제적인 고려등에 의해 결정되니 치과의사와 충분한 상담 후에 상황에 맞게 결정하시면 됩니다. 1) 신경 치료는 언제 합니까? 외상 또는 사고로 이가 부러 졌다. 완전히 수복되지 않은 치...

임플란트(인공치아 이식술) 치료란 충치나 치주질환 또는 외상 등의 이유로 자연치가 상실된 턱뼈에 생체친화성이 있는 재료(Titanium, Hydroxyapatite)로 만들어진 인공치근을 심고, 그 위에 보철물을 나사로 고정하여 자연치를 수복하는 치료. 우선 환자의 전신적인 건강상태가 임플란트를 할 수 있는지 검사합니다. 그 다음 구강내 여러 가지 검사와 엑스레이 검사를 합니다. 그 밖에도 필요에 따라 다른 검사를 하여 이를 분석하고 검토한 후 치료계획을 세웁니다. 치료계획이 세워지면 1차 수술, 2차 수술을 거쳐 임플란트 위에 이를 해 넣게 됩니다. 1차 수술을 하여 잇몸속 턱뼈에 들어간 임플란트는 뼈조직이 그 주위에 달라 붙어 치유되고 고정되는 기간이 필요합니다. 이 기간은 정상적인 경우 아래턱에서는 3 4개월, 위턱에서는 5 6개월 정도 입니다. 즉 시술 후 치과의사의 정기적인 검사와 지시에 잘 따르신다면 오랜 기간 동안 훌륭하게 사용이 가능합니다. 해부학적 차이에 따라 임플란트를 심기에 뼈의...
