Sewing in Style
Friday, May 1, 2015. The Great Dickens Christmas Faire. In Costume! So I do love an excuse to dress up. particularly if said dressing up involves a corset and a hoop skirt. Because of this love, I left the 2013 Great Dickens Christmas Fair. Bound and determined to attend in 2014, but this time in period costume! So without further ado. my great Dickens Christmas dress! My favorite element is the green shoulder. flaps? This detail was borrowed from 2881 but utilized in a slightly different way as I wanted...
Sewing in Surf City
Sewing in Surf City. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. July is "dresses" month for the Stashbusting Challenge. I made a matching top and skirt my July Burda Challenge. If I wear them together, an innocent observer might think they were a dress. But I wanted to sew something that was really on theme, so here is the real deal. This is the wave dress from the May, 2012 issue of Burdastyle (dress #107c). My version, in blues. Burda's version, more luminous than mine. I liked this pattern when it first came out but I...

Wednesday, November 02, 2011. This is now OOP McCalls 5764, view B. A very quick and easy project that I modified slightly by adding a lining. The cape itself is camel camelhair from fabricmart, and the lining this fantastic orange Italian china silk, also from fabricmart. I interlined the lining with some cotton flannel I had lying around for extra warmth. I'm glad I did since its been a bit nippy recently in NY (and thats not even counting the freak snowstorm we had last saturday! The only alteration I...
Sewing in the City
Envoyer à un ami. Sewing in the City. Sewing in the city. This is the end. Posté par By Gabs.
sewinginthecity | Craft, life and everything in between
Craft, life and everything in between. So after yesterdays post that actual sewing must wait until after my dissertation is written – I have completely ignored that and instead spent yesterday evening trying to salvage Simplicity 1998. This is a dress I made to my size however it is more like a sack – a problem other sewists have found with this pattern, see reviews here. Which I’m going to try. A sense of purpose. So having wanted to start a blog about lots of different things – I have decided tha...

We partied on Saturday night at the Federal Hotel, drinking her favourite cocktails some of them not quite the right recipe, but we drank them anyway, we didn't send them back like she would have and we laughed about it. Melinda was one of a kind and we were all blessed to have been her friend. We miss you Melinda! My prayer is that through God's grace and love I will see you again one day. Have you ev...
