In memory of those without shoes

In memory of those without shoes. Saturday, November 25, 2006. Update on my life. For any of you who may read this blog, and wonder what in the world I'm doing these days. Here's a list of my current activities, closely related to my obsessions with Missions, India, and people. Most importantly in some ways, I'm working two jobs. One at Starbucks, as a certified Barista. The other at a Youth Center with the Salvation Army. I also teach children's church at my church. Posted by Clown for God @ 9:17 AM.

In memory of those without shoes: December 2005

http://shoelessmrjoe.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html

In memory of those without shoes. Saturday, December 17, 2005. Meet my friend Dua. He used to be a child's toy, but the child apparently didn't like him anymore. So his mom gave him to a thrift shop. I found him, bought him, and turned him into a marionette. He loves his new life, and is now called "Dua," which means two in Indonesian. His second life after being a castaway toy. Marionettes are cool. Picture courtesy of Dankatie.com. Posted by Clown for God @ 3:20 PM. Posted by Clown for God @ 10:32 AM.

In memory of those without shoes: Chai!!!

http://shoelessmrjoe.blogspot.com/2006/02/chai.html

In memory of those without shoes. Tuesday, February 07, 2006. A good cup of authentic chai hits the spot almost every time. Whether it's cardamom, ginger, black pepper, or a combination of seasonings, or none at all, it's my favorite drink. What, exactly, is Chai? First of all, the list of ingredients. It's quite varied in the spices, but otherwise it's quite simple. 1) Loose Leaf Tea. Preferably from the province of Assam, India. "Taj Mahal" or "Red Label" are the recommended brands. 4 heaping teaspoons...

In memory of those without shoes. Monday, July 18, 2005. People like to ask that question, wondering how they can trick you into assuming there is such a thing as "absolute truth." But the better question they may ask would be, "Who is Truth? God, the creator of the world we live in, is the author of truth. Below I have The Apostle's Creed. This is what I believe. I believe in God, the Father Almighty,. The Creator of heaven and earth,. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:. He descended into hell.

In memory of those without shoes. Tuesday, March 07, 2006. I don't know if anyone really reads this, but if you do. Many things can waste our time, everything is competing for that most precious of commodities: our time. Some of them are good, some are bad, some can be either. I once heard a chapel speaker say "Everything you have can either be a tool or an idol. Which will it be? Do you use things to serve God, serve others, and sometimes just relax? Or do you let them control your life? To these people...

In memory of those without shoes. Saturday, November 25, 2006. Anyway, if you care about obsessions, or about WOW, I'd definitely encourage you to read this article. Http:/ soulkerfuffle.blogspot.com/2006/10/view-from-top.html. It's sad how much this MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) has taken over people's lives. I only pray that others have not become so addicted to it as this person was. Posted by Clown for God @ 9:09 AM. La Mirada, California. View my complete profile.

Marsupials' Lair: Day 2: North Glacier Pass to north Twin Island Lake

http://mrbubby.blogspot.com/2014/08/day-2-north-glacier-pass-to-north-twin.html

Wednesday, August 06, 2014. Day 2: North Glacier Pass to north Twin Island Lake. After breakfast and packing up, we took off toward the low point between Banner and Davis, which is pretty obvious. There's also a well-defined use trail. It was remarkable how much smaller Thousand Island's inlet stream had gotten overnight. It went from a raging white torrent to a crystal clear stream. There's no need to cross it until you're quite high. But what a place to rest! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, July 10, 2014. High Trail to Thousand Island Lake. We started our pack trip from Agnew Meadows. Grandpa gave us a ride to the trailhead from the cabin early enough in the morning that he could get us down and then get back out again before the gate opened at 7:00. We started hiking just a bit before 7. Links to this post. Labels: Ansel Adams Wilderness. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dan and Katie Peckham. Orange County Rare Bird Alert. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Backpacking Day 2: To Bench Valley. The second day of our trip took us up out of the North Fork valley to Guest Lake, in a hanging valley above it. There are two ways up to Guest Lake from the river. You can either take the established trail, or you can use the old trail, which has been abandoned for many years. The old trail goes straight up the hill, and the new one requires a three mile or so dog-leg upstream on the river. We opted to try the old route. The North Fork valley.

Marsupials' Lair: LA Marathon

http://mrbubby.blogspot.com/2014/03/la-marathon.html

Monday, March 10, 2014. I wanted to type out briefly what it was like to run my first marathon. You know, so I won't forget. It took about an hour and cost $14 for the two of us to make the trip. The course of the marathon ran from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica through Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Libby was great and came to see me off and then drove down to Santa Monica to meet me at the finish line. Couldn't do it without her! The Start: My Knee and Training. Since the pain was worse this time, I knew...

Sunday, August 18, 2013. Day 5: Blackcap Basin. I wish we could have spent more than one day in Blackcap Basin. It's quite large, and there is a lot of it that we didn't have time to explore. We focused on just the southernmost corner of the basin on this layover day. Libby in camp on the smoky morning. Our dayhike was through an alpine wonderland of meadows, rocks, sand, and the occasional stand of limber or whitebark pine. Most of the time, Finger Peak picturesquely framed our views. Each lake brought ...

Thursday, August 01, 2013. Day 3: Bench Valley Dayhike. The third day of our trip was dedicated to exploring Bench Valley. The goal was to drink in the sights, and it turned out to be a lovely place to do that. These lakes are all very nice to look at, their sparkling blue waters framed by high altitude meadows spotted with vividly colored alpine wildflowers, fringed by whitebark, lodgepole, and limber pine forest, and rimmed by white granite cliffs, boulders, and the peaks of the Le Conte Divide. From S...

http://mrbubby.blogspot.com/2013/08/day-4-blackcap-traverse.html

Sunday, August 04, 2013. Day 4: Blackcap Traverse. On our fourth day, we hiked from Guest Lake to Blackcap Basin via a high traverse. Secor has a route that stays at about 10,400', but we worked our way quite a bit higher. In fact, we ended up climbing the mountain, dropping our packs maybe 500' below the summit. Still, Secor's route is class two, and we stayed class one the whole time. Libby in high meadow. After leaving the summit, we picked up our packs and headed for Blackcap Basin. After travers...

Friday, January 18, 2013. Movie Notes: A Day at the Races. A Day at the Races (1937). This isn't the best of the Marx Brothers. It's a bit too tame, too long, and it is tainted by the unfortunate racist climate of the era. The other sequence in the movie with real energy is the dance sequence by the barn. It's that sort of contained African-American expression that is regrettable today, but the performers far outclass the musical numbers of their white counterparts. Links to this post. Tuesday, October 23, 2012. This was our introduction to the great Greta Garbo. She makes a great stone-faced government worker from the Soviet Union in this film set in Paris before the war. The movie trades on the glamour of Paris against the cold reality of the Soviet Union. In the end, though, it's only love that matters for the principals. The movie is especially interesting as a historical artifact, but entertaining enough in its own right. Links to this post. Monday, October 22, 2012. Mallick gives...

Shoeless Musings

Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Not long ago I had the distinct pleasure to be invited on a Upper Colorado trip with fellow wooden river dory enthusiast, blogger. And all around good man Greg Hatten. After pulling into Kremmling and checking my map again I gassed up and headed for Pumphouse. One of the fun things about being around whitewater for such a long time is a chance to experience places around the world that are famous only to the ranks of other river nerds. Monday, February 28, 2011. My friend Ahmed called me tonight and told me he was coming over. So I cleaned up the house and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . and, no Ahmed! So I decided to go out for dinner. (I made a big batch of casserole a few days ago and have been having it for every meal. I finally got sick of it and decided I needed something else.) Anyway . . . I finished my dinner and was on my way to visit another friend when Ahmed called. Yep! I'm not planning to eat for a few days!
