Six White Horses: Teal and Tan "Into the Wild" Baby Quilt
http://six-white-horses.blogspot.com/2015/07/teal-and-tan-into-wild-baby-quilt.html
Teal and Tan "Into the Wild" Baby Quilt. This recent finish is a smaller, baby version of Craft South's free Into the Wild Quilt. Pattern, measuring up at about 37"x48". I'm always on the lookout for fabrics that work for boys (without having cartoon trucks or ninjas on them). This time, I put brown and tan tones into the mix, paired with blues and teals. The back is pieced from a few leftover fabrics- I just love that surprise green boat! As well as a larger piece of fun Lotta Jansdotter crosshatch.
Six White Horses: Cosmic Red and White Baby Quilt
http://six-white-horses.blogspot.com/2015/05/cosmic-red-and-white-baby-quilt.html
Cosmic Red and White Baby Quilt. As part of my recent. Dive back into doing more sewing, I decided to tackle some WIPs. I found these three Sun, Please! Blocks (from two years ago! And decided to feature them on a simple, gender-neutral red and white baby quilt. This quilt measures about 42 inches square, and I love the contrast created by the simple layout and palette against the intricate paper-pieced block design of the suns. Visuals.) I was happy to include it on the otherwise solid red background.
Six White Horses: The Lone Starburst
http://six-white-horses.blogspot.com/2012/01/lone-starburst.html
One of my favorite Flickr quilting bee "genres" are the sampler quilt bees: the. 3 x 6 Sampler Quilt Mini Bee. And its cousin, the. 4x5 modern Quilt Bee. You make 5 (or 6, depending on the bee) blocks (of your own choice) in colors requested by your beehive-mates. You mail them out, and pretty soon packages arrive from your hive: blocks for you, in your colors, dreamed up by them. I love the creativity these bees inspire in all members, and I've been able to challenge myself and have a lot of fun! One of...

Six White Horses: Improv Chevrons
http://six-white-horses.blogspot.com/2012/02/improv-chevrons.html
When I'm sewing, sometimes I like to make things that are very neat and precise. Like these sharp chevrons. Other times, however, the freedom of a crazy, possibly wonky, spontaneous design is my favorite thing. I'd estimate that a good portion of all handmade items are the result of a " I-want-to-make-that. Here's how I did it! This is more of a technique than a formal tutorial, as no two blocks will ever be the same. Strips of fabric between 1 and 3 inches wide. A variety of widths is best! The next two...

Munchkin Quilts: December 2014
http://munchkinquilts.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2014. I've been doing secret sewing on a quilt top that can't be shared which is why I haven't really been blogging. That said, I finished up my IG Mini Swap quilt, received one in turn, and have made a few other small things recently. This is a round up post of the things I've been working on other than the one big quilt top (and it will be big at 93" square). Pippa wanted to show you what the extension table is really for:. And here it is hanging on my dining room wall. I hung...

Fairly Merry - Mary, Merrily Quilting Away. Monday, August 25, 2014. Fairly Merry: June 2015
http://fairlymerry.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Fairly Merry - Mary, Merrily Quilting Away. Sunday, June 28, 2015. House of the Rising Sun. Pillows are super gratifying in that I can have an idea and then have a completed project within 12 hours, even adding a bit of sleep in the middle of working on the pillow. I pulled Alison Glass. Fabrics that reminded me of the ocean and sand. I cut strips with my rotary, but no ruler to have them odd shaped and give a little improv natural look to the landscape. And now a finished improv pillow for a beach fan.

Fairly Merry: June 2014
http://fairlymerry.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Fairly Merry - Mary, Merrily Quilting Away. Monday, June 30, 2014. Every other month in the Virginia Beach Modern Quilt Guild we have a member swap. This month's swap was a mini quilt swap with a summer theme. I chose to use Canvas. Pattern by Leanne Chahley of She Can Quilt. This is a well written pattern with measurements for many different sizes of quilt already figured for you. For the summer theme I chose several different shades of Kona solids that represented the sun and a neutral border color.
