Fourteen birders met at the new Spring Lake natural area parking lot at 685 Lime Kiln Road for a short drive to the River Foundation's property. It was a very windy morning at the Nature Center and adjoining parks as the group saw seven fewer bird species than our October visit. An overnight cold front brought the winds and cooler temperatures the first Saturday in April. Ever wonder who builds those kiosks at the trail heads to the natural areas? They provide shade and a gateway to the great outdoors. A large group of 19 early-risers met at the parking area on Lime Kiln Road to start their mile-long search.
