Honda Cafe 550: Slow week....
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2008/03/slow-week.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Not too much progress this week. Angee started a blog for her bike at http:/ thisoldbike.blogspot.com/ and we picked up some new plugs so we can test for spark on hers. On a spark plug related note, Mike from www.somemonkey.com pointed out that NGK stopped making the D7ES’s, which are called for in the service manuals. Instead they make D7EA’s which every small engine shop seems to have. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Honda Cafe 550: Inspiration...
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2008/03/inspiration.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Tuesday, March 18, 2008. This yellow CB is the loose inspiration for this project. I've seen quite few CB cafe bikes, but I really like how this bike retains some stock appearance and still manages to look slick as hell. Update. The builder is Rob Lloyd. You can see some of his bikes here: http:/ www.bikepics.com/members/roblloyd/76cb550/. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Extra parts (you want em? Front and rear turn signals. Cafe and CB Links.

1970 CB350: Carb Rebuild
http://cb350.blogspot.com/2007/05/carb-rebuild.html
Core dump for CB350 information. Sunday, May 27, 2007. Picked up two carb kits for $25 each, and the correct main jets for another $6 each, for a total of $31 per carb. Now, instead of topping out at fifty-five, I'm shifting into fifth at fifty. She makes sixty at just about 5900 rpm, seventy at about 7k. Acceleration is better too. Hot damn. Disconnect the air filter, throttle cable, and choke linkage. Remove the carb, stuff a shop towel in the intake to keep anything from getting in. From top left: nee...

Honda Cafe 550: It has begun...
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2008/03/it-has-begun.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Tuesday, March 18, 2008. My friend Angee and I have been talking about old Japanese bikes for a while and how we should find a clunker to work on. After lurking around Craigslist for a while, we came across this well used '75 cb550. I've had it for just less than a week, and I'm still very much discovering what is needed to get it going. In the meantime, we're still looking for another one for Angee. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Honda Cafe 550: March 2009
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Monday, March 23, 2009. The Cafe 550 project has slowed down as of late, as things do sometimes. Since the last update I've purchased a new truck, broken a leg, and am planning on building a proper workspace in a new garage. In the meantime, the poor little 550 is doing what it did before I bought it: sitting. . For the time being, I'm shifting my attention over to our sister project at: http:/ thisoldbike.blogspot.com/. Brake and Clutch Lever.

Honda Cafe 550: Week 1
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2008/03/week-1.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Well, it's naked. Angee and I yanked the engine and trans this week. It was not without casualties. You can kind of see the oil spill on the shed floor here. I grossly underestimated the amount of oil this little 550 had in it when I dropped the pan off the bottom. Oh well. One step closer to powdercoat. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Extra parts (you want em? Front and rear turn signals. Goofy red aftermarket horn.

Honda Cafe 550
http://cafe550.blogspot.com/2008/03/well-friday-night-we-left-salt-lake.html
Documenting an attempt to bring a 1975 CB550 back to life. Monday, March 24, 2008. Well, Friday night we left Salt Lake City and drove 6 hours up to Boise, Idaho to pick up this little champ right here for Angee. It's a 1971 Honda CB 500. The bike came with Mr Potato Head's bucket-of-parts and is mostly complete minus some of the plastics. It also came with a spare engine which is handy, because although this one still kicks over, it does need some help. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
