Black Skimmer – Chirp
https://gpaulrandall.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/black-skimmer
Birding and Blogging in Galveston, Texas. On Boddeker Rd. at the east end of Galveston Island. My idea is that the bird’s massive head developed to support the considerable bone and muscle structure needed to be able to drop that lower bill into the water like that and withstand the force. Look at that wingspan! Black pigmentation on bills and feathers is structural and helps prevent wear, I have read. August 3, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Clapper – Chirp

Birding and Blogging in Galveston, Texas. With no rain in weeks the marshy ponds on Boddeker Rd. are shrinking drastically. I stopped by Saturday morning before work and there was a nice variety of bird life gathered. Black Skimmers. Great and Snowy Egrets. Youngster came scampering out of the reeds and wandered so close to where I was standing I couldn’t get focus with my 400mm prime! Young birds can be so incautious. Clapper Rails. August 2, 2015. Waco, Texas – Chirp
https://gpaulrandall.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/waco-texas
Birding and Blogging in Galveston, Texas. Summer is the birding doldrums down here on the UTC. It’s too hot to go out and the chances of seeing something exciting are next to nil. So it was good to head North a ways, even if birding was not the primary goal. On the way out I saw this red tail sitting on a utility pole out on a country road east of Waco and pulled over for some shots. I finally got close enough to spook it and caught this photo just a second after take-off. A few Swan Geese. July 20, 2015.

Big From Small Ways – From This Window

Big From Small Ways. November 3, 2016. I know it’s been quite some time since I last wrote to you, and for that I am sorry. I managed to, somehow find myself lost in my thoughts, as people do from time to time, and somewhat lost focus of what I was writing; when that happens, how can one then inspire others? How can one separate their feelings from their speech? Do they visually see words and feel what they could imply? Go back over your day: do you now think ‘I should have’? All my love XX. 16 thoughts ...

Writing is my pensieve. Amazing shot by @dawson.proc. I remember walking endlessly. The waves crashing at my feet. Just like my tears damped my cheeks. I remember walking endlessly. I remember crying a lifetime. As the sun set behind me. As I walked away from everything. Metaphorically and in reality. I remember crying a lifetime. I remember the sudden numbness. My tired feet. My tired heart. My aching eyes. The complete nothing and the sudden stop. I remember the sudden numbness. Foreign love →. Leave a...

Boddeker Road – Chirp

Birding and Blogging in Galveston, Texas. Galveston’s eastern tip is where Seawall Blvd. ends, connecting with Boddeker Road which runs parallel to the ship channel south to the Gulf side at Big Reef. There’s a bridge across a small inlet just south of Seawall that’s popular with fishermen, fish and shore birds. And me. You can rent a kayak there as well. I stopped by Saturday morning and saw one of each: White Ibis. Adult), and Reddish Egret. I may have mentioned before that the Reddish Egret. If you wa...
