Winslett's: Education : Don't Incentivise Success -- Incentivise Inputs and Discipline
http://www.winsletts.com/2014/07/education-dont-incentivise-success.html
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Education : Don't Incentivise Success - Incentivise Inputs and Discipline. Schools should stop measuring student outcomes and start measuring student inputs. Institutions should institute thin slicing student educational participation. When we measure student inputs, we are measuring the discipline of students to take charge of self-education. What inputs should schools measure? Quality Attendance - yes / no daily. Usage 1 week before assignments. Usage 2 weeks before tests.

Speaking to the locals and cultural immersion | Dreams and Aspirations

Just a girl, working, traveling, and living life. Speaking to the locals and cultural immersion. June 15, 2013. It seems that many people in my group are afraid of France simply because they are not comfortable speaking the language and won’t take the time to learn even the simplest phrases. This morning 2 of my friends and I went to a cafe for breakfast. Reading the menu, Brittany looks to me and says “How do I say that one? It’s just a normal coffee right? Posted in: Bonjour France. On appreciating the...

Just a girl, working, traveling, and living life. On appreciating the norms of your country. June 20, 2013. So anyways, I think this is the one thing I miss so far about being in the U.S, my ability to feel comfortable in my own body as a woman. Who would have thought something like this could be so easily taken for granted when it is one thing that can change the way you live and see the world. Posted in: Bonjour France. Trust nothing but yourself. you're really all you have. Saturday, April 23, 2011. History lesson #2: letters to the editor. And then i found myself at a school where… well, to call the student body conservative. Is an insult to the term conservative. these kids and i did NOT see eye to eye on anything, except our deep, abiding love of alcohol, that is. but i was undeterred. every school needs a liberal op-ed columnist, right? I am not coming back here next year. So even though it hurt to be bullied like ...

Immersing yourself in a new culture and avoiding metro pirates | Dreams and Aspirations

Just a girl, working, traveling, and living life. Immersing yourself in a new culture and avoiding metro pirates. June 12, 2013. The Sweet Life in Paris. As a temporary resident, I plan to do as the Parisians do, I will attempt–to the best of my ability–to blend in, to experience the culture and people first hand, I will make friends, and I will do everything I can to come out of this experience a better more globally aware individual. Automotive Bad Example? | MBA Oasis
https://mbaoasis.wordpress.com/2009/02/18/automotive-bad-example
Refreshing Views in a Turbulent Economy. February 18, 2009. All the talk lately is about stimulus packages and saving the automotive industry and so on and so forth. Wasn’t it just a lot simpler when we were back in the days of talking about impeaching a president because he lied under oath about having some “sexy-time” (as Borat calls it) with somebody from the office? Sure, that was back before 9-11 and economic crisis and war in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’ve been having problems for years! It isn̵...

Winslett's: Retort to Del Marsh's Opinion of 'Alabama Accountability Act'
http://www.winsletts.com/2013/03/retort-to-del-marshs-opion-of-alabama.html
Sunday, March 10, 2013. Retort to Del Marsh's Opinion of 'Alabama Accountability Act'. The shortsightedness of Del Marsh's summary of the "Alabama Accountability Act" misses many major points about the economics of education in Alabama. In fact, he speaks of Alabama Education like he does not know the past, like he is an alien who landed on a planet looking to solve a problem. The "Alabama Accountability Act" is not innovative. Alabama Inequality of Schools is Due to Racism. We have an opportunity for eq...

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Must-Have Skills : "Productivity Improvements"? While cruising WSJ, I ran across an article "Must Have Job Skills in 2013." Written like a Horoscope, the skills listed could have applied for any year from 5 A.D. to 3000 A.D. However, the one that jumped off the page was "Productivity Improvement". I rallied around it because we judge employees on their productivity. Improve Everyone's Decision Making Ability. Do you know how to achieve 100% productivity gains right now? Improv...
