I am a born and bred Minnesotan who loves living the outdoor northern lifestyle.In the winter youll find me snowshoeing and cross-country skiing and in the summer canoeing and hiking. Used Several Hundred Years Ago in Europe. The design of this sliding lid box has centuries old roots from Europe. Its main use was, and still can be, to hold candles. It is also good for miscellaneous items, jewelry, etc. My family uses the box to collect thank you notes throughout the year to be read at our Thanksgiving celebration. The Colonial Candle Box measures 5" wide, 3 1/2" high and 9" or 12" deep. Each box has squared nails at the corners and is available in White Pine.

In the late 18th and early 19th century embellishments were removed from furniture to allow the clean lines and exposed joinery to show. The body of the desk has full dovetailed corners. The lid employs a double haunched mortise and tenon into the breadboard ends. Each desk also has an interior divider to separate writing utensils. The Shaker style fits most re-enactment periods and also blends in well with modern home use and decor. The Shaker Lap Desk measures 16" wide, 4 3/4" high and 11" deep.
