Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Slow and steady progress on the reno. 65279; He will do just this side wall and the back wall at this time, as the budget allows. That ratty looking eave board will be covered with white metal cladding. At this stage of life it's all about no maintenance. The pair of doors in the knee wall open to a storage area and a great hiding place. Back to cutting more pointy shingles tomorrow. Kathi, this looks l...

Kathi Dunphy Watercolors: June, wonderful june
http://kathidunphywatercolors.blogspot.com/2012/06/june-wonderful-june.html
Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Wednesday, June 20, 2012. June, wonderful june. Say hello to Bob, a Great Horned Owl of the genus Bobblehead. Here he is on the job, guarding the strawberries. He manages to intimidate the berry thieving robins but the crows just laugh at him. Crows love a good joke. And dinner was back on. The corn has been under cover ever since but should be safe at this size to unwrap. Next week I will have the first. Dear little Freckles i...

http://kathidunphywatercolors.blogspot.com/2012/04/ouch-that-had-to-hurt.html
Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Tuesday, April 3, 2012. That had to hurt! 65279;My poor hen! This egg is HUGE! After a scarcity of eggs all winter the girls are making up for lost time and really cranking them out. I never cared much for eggs, its the icky texture i guess.but made into a kale omelet I can eat them even without a piece of toast to help them down. I take a handful of leaves and chop them. Flip, add a bit of cheese and fold over. Flip.

Kathi Dunphy Watercolors: November 2011
http://kathidunphywatercolors.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Friday, November 18, 2011. The winter cabbages make really good sauerkraut. Just shred and layer in a crock or glass jar with non iodized salt. Pack down tightly and cover with a weighted plate. I use a nylon stocking to keep out any fruit flies. After a bit the salt will draw water out of the cabbage. (I had to add a bit of salted water to get it all submerged). But it's not all work! We are remembering to hike down to the bea...

http://kathidunphywatercolors.blogspot.com/2013/11/where-did-year-and-half-go.html
Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Sunday, November 24, 2013. Where did a year and a half go? 65279;The paradox about aging is that time flies by faster every year, just when your ability to actually do things is diminishing. That's likely why I havent found a minute for this blog in sooo long, I am forever in catch-up mode. Here are my son and I looking tres elegante in our wedding outfits. What are the chances of that? The harvest in the fall was amazing!

Kathi Dunphy Watercolors: October 2011
http://kathidunphywatercolors.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Saturday, October 29, 2011. Lots to do before the snow flies. Lots and lots of fall chores, which is a good way to spend the sunny cool days of late october. I think I've planted about 150 garlic cloves, tucking them in to holes poked in the soft rich soil where they will start to root before the ground freezes. The first welcome green shoots to come up in april will be garlic plants. I made a wooden juice collection tray with ...

Kathi Dunphy Watercolors: August 2011

Stuff we're doing, thinking, planting, dreaming, painting, at Minihorse Farm. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Hurricane Irene made for some spectacular surf in our neighborhood, bringing out all the camera buffs in the area trying to capture the perfect crashing wave. The bulldozers had to be called out when things calmed down, to push the beach back off the road where the wild surf had thrown it. The flattened corn however, didn't fare as well. Remarkably, the sunflowers are still upright, but they are in a...
