Poetic roads less traveled. Monday, February 6, 2012. Good Friday (for Dad). It seems like a misnomer. Or a bit of black humor…. 8220;Good” Friday…. The day when betrayal. Came with a kiss;. The day when the seconds were marked. The day that clouds closed. Like eyelids over a dying sun;. The day the earth shook. As if in a sieve. As if it wasn’t. It is also the day. A tomb sealed with a stone…. A coffin nailed shut…. A grave covered with dirt…. The good news is. This is as dark as it gets.

The feast of Tabernacles celebrated the maturing and harvesting of the whole crop (Lev. 23:39). Often, the idea of harvest is associated with evangelism, “reaping” souls for the kingdom of God. But evangelism is probably more like scattering seed and conversion like seed sprouting. No one harvests seeds or sprouts. Only mature plants bearing grain or fruit are harvested.
