26 Months in DC. Guest post: autumn adventures in DC and Shenandoah. November 3, 2016. I’m continuing to have flashbacks to our time in the States. This is in part thanks to technology – Facebook and Timehop have both reminded me that two years ago we visited the beautiful Shenandoah National Park in the Fall, with our friends from the UK. The National Park also keeps emailing me with photos of the fall foliage, hoping to entice me to another holiday there! 26 Months in DC. I was unexpectedly charmed by ...

26 Months in DC. Guest post: autumn adventures in DC and Shenandoah. September 7, 2015. Welcome to my first ever guest-post on 18 months in DC! This was written for me by my good friend Kate (who also writes a great blog about books, over at http:/ bloggingaroundmybookcase.com/. About her ‘vacation’ with us last autumn. And it would be excellent background music for the rest of this blog. Other highlights of DC were canoeing on the Potomac in the autumn sunshine, watching the Washington Wizards in action...

26 Months in DC. June 4, 2016. Also, in happier news, I’m now an aunt for the first time, and R’s sister is also expecting a baby this year – so it’s really exciting to be moving closer to family. 8217; people exclaim, and it’s really hard to answer ‘maybe not…’. Because as anyone who has moved countries knows, there’s lots to do! Apart from the packing, there’s all the financial things to sort out – we want to leave in good standing after all! 8211; written by someone who decided to return home on one!

26 Months in DC. All posts by angharadeyre. Expat life: the truth? March 8, 2017. This is another post written just before we headed home to the UK. The other day I took part in an HSBC/YouGov survey about Expat life, which was basically a whole set of questions about whether I thought moving abroad had been good for us, professionally and financially. The cold hard truth is that, no, it hasn’t been that great for us financially. But right now I’d just like a bit more disposable income! One comment so far.
Barbecue vs Grilling | 26 Months in DC
https://18monthsindc.wordpress.com/2015/06/19/barbecue-vs-grilling
26 Months in DC. June 19, 2015. If you asked many Americans, especially Texans, to come to your barbecue they would probably be confused. When we in the UK think of barbecuing we think of what the Americans call grilling. Or tailgating if it happens in the parking lot before a sports event. Barbecue is a word reserved for the cuisine that results from cooking meat slowly in a barbecue smoker oven. As I mentioned in a previous post. In DC it’s often said you can’t get good barbecue. [Peopl...Apparently yo...

26 Months in DC. February 20, 2017. Was also perfectly positioned that we could stop in for a drink on our way home from one of our walks east along the Thames. (Walking was another American hobby that we kept up this summer and autumn.). View all 5 comments. June 2016 – Leaving DC. February 17, 2017. June was a month of two halves. We said goodbye to the US, and came home to the UK. Buying things to make the flat habitable again, and then we went out in the evening with some friends. Coming home tho...
