Went on a charter to go clamming across the inlet from Ninilchick on May 17 with my wife, daughter, friend and his daughter. Most of us Alaskans know that clamming is closed from Kenai beach to Homer this year. In the last few years the clams have been smaller and a lot more scarce. Across the inlet are the commercial beaches with no limit to what you can take home. What a blast! Surf Casting off the Homer Spit.

Clam Gulch is just one of many roadside beaches you can Surf Cast from. Fishing for halibut close by, Whittier Alaska is always the best option. It's about a 60 mile drive on the New Seward Highway. The next option is Seward Alaska. Seward is about 126 miles from Anchorage and is one of the most beautiful drives on any highway in America. Halibut caught at Clam Gulch.
