Where we enjoy romping and playing with our dogs. Our good friends and neighbors in the woods , Carole and Rick and Cooper, celebrate with us. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Lake Okeechobee in South FL. Terry caught the biggest Bluegill. Our guide showed us the good places, but the fishing wasn't as good as we'd expected. Marilyn caught some nice sunfish in the canal as well as junk fish, gar and bowfish. Lake Okeechobee is the biggest lake in Florida. It's shallow, about 12 feet on average, but was only 3 or 4 feet in the picture here partly because of the draught this spring. There are many canals around the borders of the lake dug out for irrigation.

Florida Recreation: Providence Canyon

Sunday, May 8, 2011. Providence Canyon State Park near Lumpkin, Ga. A short hike of about 1/4 mi. takes you to the bottom of the canyon. Not much of a river. The canyon was formed by run off water which eroded the hillsides after farmers had cleared and ploughed the land in about 1820. The sand and red clay of GA was washed away over a short period of only about 150 years. Erosion can do all this. Terry inspecting Kudzu, an invasive plant that vines over everything in it's path.
