Most of their companies do not accept unsolicited submissions, but they have set up a department called Macmillan New Writing that accepts and considers any new fiction. With editors accepting submissions in Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Montreal, Vancouver and London, Joyland publishes pieces from authors who write about those cities, or who are based in those cities.
