http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2009/09/spirit-of-sovereign-lord-is-upon-me.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Wednesday, September 9, 2009. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is Upon Me. So I didn't update my blog all summer long. And now it's time. While I'm working on the next entry, here is a link to a video of a message I preached in California a few weeks ago. It's a message from Isaiah 61:1-3 and includes lots of stories from our lives in Turkey. Http:/ www.orangecoastcommunitychurch.com/ryan/is61.html. Posted by The Stylite. The Stylite: Murat
http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2009/05/murat.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Wednesday, May 6, 2009. We shared with him about his new life, about the difficulties he would face, and about the importance of being dedicated to God's word and to the church. Our pastor happened to be at church yesterday so he also came in to share with Murat for a few minutes and to pray for him. Posted by The Stylite. Great story. Well told and so exciting to hear about. May 13, 2009 at 1:01 AM. It's a monk who sits on a pole. View my complete profile.

The Stylite: Cairo and Craig
http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2009/04/cairo-and-craig.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I spent three days in Cairo with the pastor of my church here in Ankara. We were going to meet with some churches and ministries there in order to consider sending our Filipus students to Cairo for the month-long out of country portion of the program. It was my first time traveling to an Arab country. And we did get to ride horses around the pyramids. Posted by The Stylite. It's a monk who sits on a pole. View my complete profile.

The Stylite: The Bible and Moral Principles
http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-bible-and-moral-principles.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Saturday, August 16, 2014. The Bible and Moral Principles. I have spoken to more than one friend recently who have employed some argument against using the Bible to derive objective moral values. These are my thoughts that emerged from one of those discussions, particularly about the gay marriage issue. In addition to deriving objective principles from scripture, it sounds to me like Jesus is describing a discernible single voice in the Bible. And he also assumes ...

The Stylite: The Güveç
http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2009/11/guvec.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Friday, November 6, 2009. I just finished putting our güveç in the oven. And it didn't mind. A güveç is a clay pot, in this case, the size of a dutch oven. The good ones come with a clay lid, but I have to cover mine with aluminum foil and the lid to another pot to keep the good stuff inside. You can use the güveç on the stove top or in the oven. I sometimes do whole roasts or chickens in it. Posted by The Stylite. I love turkish food! November 7, 2009 at 7:02 PM.

Cool opportunity, ryan. i can just picture you with the class, fielding all the questions. i am sure the discussion about what the nature of the church was both shocking and stimulating for them. may such windows of opportunity be multiplied! The Stylite: How Much Can I Give?
http://thestylite.blogspot.com/2014/04/how-much-can-i-give.html
Reflections from our life in Turkey. Friday, April 18, 2014. How Much Can I Give? When we pulled our van up to the bus station on Thursday night there were more than 100 homeless men and women standing in line to receive a bowl of rice with chick peas and shredded chicken. The students in our ministry training program prepare enough to feed around 150 people every week. We've been serving our city in this way for more than 4 years. I asked, "What department would I go to for that kind of permission?
