A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo. But after traveling the past few weeks it was really nice to just hang close to home. So since nothing new is going on, I thought I would post a little information about Japan. I found a few good sites with info on them. First, from facts-about-japan.com. Japan is over 70% mountainous terrain with approximately 18% of the land mass suitable for settlement. Japanese cities are typically sprawling and densely populated. Things like...

Sushi Stories: December 2010

A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. I've Been Everywhere Man, I've Been Everywhere. As the year ends today, I think back about the amazing places I've been fortunate to visit in 2010 for my job and for fun. I flew over 150,000 miles (which is 6x around the world), visited many different countries (many of them multiple times), and saw countless sights that help me to better understand how the world works and my place in it. Guam, U.S. And some other fun cities in the US too. Just window shop...

Sushi Stories: October 2010
http://woehrlesinjapan.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Come Rain or Come Shrine. Another long post today! The last full day of Kiki-fest arrived on Sunday the 17th. We checked out of the hotel, headed back to Shin-Osaka station (again by taxi) and took the express train to Kyoto - about a 20 minute ride. Once we got to Kyoto station, we worked on finding lockers to put our luggage in. We looked for a long time! We walked around for about 30 minutes. Ella with her entrance ticket. Here Fishy Fishy Fishy. After ...

Sushi Stories: It'll all be all right, I'll be home tonight, I'm coming back Home
http://woehrlesinjapan.blogspot.com/2011/06/itll-all-be-all-right-ill-be-home.html
A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. It'll all be all right, I'll be home tonight, I'm coming back Home. I've been delaying this post for a few days as this week has been very busy and I was working through the final details of our next adventures. I know many of you have been asking about what's next for us. As it took a little longer to get all sorted out, this news comes a little late. On Sunday I cancelled our mobile phones and then headed into work for the evening. Wednesday was Ella's 5...

Sushi Stories: April 2011
http://woehrlesinjapan.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Got a whale of a tale to tell you, lads. A whale of a tale or two. Anyone who knows Ella knows that she loves animals, especially marine animals. With this love for marine animals it makes sense that we would take a whale watching tour while in Hawaii. Ella was very excited for this tour and couldn't wait to look for whales in the ocean. My hair was blowing too, can't you see it? Nana and Abby modeling. Abby dancing, not necessarily the hula. I walked abou...

A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Na na na na, Na na na na, hey hey hey goodbye. As my time in Tokyo is winding down, my coworkers and I went out for a night on the town as my sayonara! There is one style of restaurant I hadn't been to yet in Japan - shabu shabu. The gang was nice enough to take me out for this experience before I head out of town. Turn up the heat. Get that water boiling. The pork and soup arrive. Don't forget your drinks! 10:00 AM Category: 0 comments. A Little Bit Of Me.

Sushi Stories: Well it's root, root, root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame!
http://woehrlesinjapan.blogspot.com/2011/06/well-its-root-root-root-for-home-team.html
A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Well it's root, root, root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame! We just bought general admission tickets, which were about $20 each. When we walked in, there was a place to stop if you brought in food or drinks. But they didn't ask you to throw it out, they gave you a stadium cup to pour your drink in. So helpful! I don't have our good camera (Jason does) so I apologize for the poor quality in the pictures. The food options are a bit differen...

Sushi Stories: February 2011

A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. Someone told me, It’s all happening at the zoo. I do believe it, I do believe it’s true. Posted by Jess and Ella. Yesterday we went to the Tama Zoological Gardens. Tama Zoo is about an hour west of Tokyo and it took 4 trains to get there! The last train had animals that live at the zoo painted on it. When we got to the zoo, we stopped to take a picture with the big elephant and then planned our day. And Tigers Getting a Tan. Caterpillars in their cocoons.

Sushi Stories: March 2011
http://woehrlesinjapan.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A running commentary of our adventures in Tokyo. I feel the earth move under my feet. Aftershocks happen really frequently here these days but its hard to feel most of them in Tokyo. As you know from previous posts, Japan is pretty earthquake happy in a normal state - somewhere in the country, probably every day, there's a small quake. Coming soon - a blogpost about something non-earthquake related - yay! 5:23 PM Category: 0 comments. Links to this post. We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue. Only half o...
