Friday, May 31, 2013. Owning a shop - my most important rule! Each week, I get tons of email and Facebook messages from girls with a dream like I once had. They want to open a little shop that is all their own. My immediate circle hears my one most important rule all. the. time so I thought I would give you this tid-bit as my 'mantra' of the moment. Honestly, I think they are sick of hearing me. But, to know me is to hear me. So they will have to deal. :o). For that matter.is:. DON'T WASTE YOUR RESOURCES!

urban farmgirl: country living fair 2011...part one
http://urbanfarmgirlandco.blogspot.com/2011/09/country-living-fair-2011part-one.html
Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Country living fair 2011.part one. I am finally getting back into the swing of things after being gone most of last week to the Country Living Fair in Ohio. The trip was a-ma-zing! We stopped in so many cute little towns along the way.and I can't believe I am admitting this.but we had the van totally packed less than 24 hours into the trip! Needless to say, the packing tape and boxes I brought along came in very handy! Stash had such an eclectic mix. Everything worn and...

Painting the Roses White: September 2011
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wall decor always poses a challenge to me for some reason and the nursery wall decor was no exception. I fell in LOVE with these little vintage chalkboard wall hangings on the RH Baby website and so I ordered the large rectangle one with a special spot in mind to hang it! Credit: RH Baby and Child. Credit: RH Baby and Child. I also picked up some champagne coloured ribbon and chalk! I used a dinner plate and a measuring tape to try and get the cuts right. I admit they are a little off but it just add...
Painting the Roses White: Bathroom Update
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2010/08/bathroom-update.html
I have to be honest and admit that what I thought would take a weekend has turned into a 3 week ordeal! The tiling part was by far the easiest part of this reno believe it or not! Since we are SO close to crossing the finish line on this one I thought I would do a quick update on the floor portion and leave the final reveal for a later day. Then I screwed down a sub floor with 1/4" plywood. Hey lookie who is helping me? Yes a rare sight but I had to snap a photo of this! It's definitely not perfect but i...
Painting the Roses White: November 2010
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
What are Bryophytes you might ask? Well the easy answer is Moss (and Hornworts and Liverworts)! And it just so happens one of my University courses this semester is all about these tiny little plants! One of our lab classes we went on a field exercise to collect various species of these guys to get a feel for their diversity! So after the day was done and I had collected over 20 different kinds of moss, I had an idea! Why not make my own moss book plates? These are easy to find via google). I can't belie...
Painting the Roses White: Birdcage Atrium
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2010/10/birdcage-atrium.html
A couple of Sundays ago my good friend Holly. And I hit up an antique auction to score some new treasures! Since I accidentally slept through the first two hours of the auction (oopsie) I rushed to meet with Holly and see if there was anything sweet left! And luckily there was! It seemed like birdcages were a popular item that day since they had 3 there up for auction! Duh duh duh. You guessed it, I'm now the proud owner of that birdcage. and a beautiful old mantle mirror, spending a total of $70. I love...
Painting the Roses White: Bluestone Floors
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2010/08/bluestone-floors.html
As far as stone flooring goes, white carrara marble makes my heart go pitter patter. I have been putting money in a jar for a long time now so that one day we can redo our master bathroom floor in this gorgeous marble stone. BUT I think I have another favorite now! Has anyone heard of Bluestone? Well I sure hadn't! When we were home in Victoria, my step mom Leah offered us their leftover honed bluestone tiles they had! And we all know you can't beat free! I love the stone against white walls! Wow, that d...

Painting the Roses White: Sink or Float?
http://www.paintingtheroseswhite.com/2010/08/sink-or-float.html
I have been a busy bee over the past few days and I thought I'd update everyone on our bluestone floor reno! All I can say at this point is that it turned into a WAY bigger job than we expected and I actually swore the other day that I never wanted to pick up a tile or mortar again for as long as I live LOL! Okay I already take it back. BUT I am really needing everyone's help on making a certain decision. Here is the first one. Cons: it only has one hole for the taps which means I have a lot less choice ...

Learning to Make a Website. January 6th, 2015. At what age should we teach our boys to create a website? We don’t want them to think they have to be programmers when they grow up. However, our oldest is curious about how we do our work? Right now I am writing this brief post, to show him how this will show up on my website. December 23rd, 2013. Our toddler woke up from his nap and was thrilled to see these newest members of the herd. Usually a very aggressive animal lover, he sensed the tenderness ne...

Thursday, August 13, 2009. I am a recovering bee hater. Being stung over 10 times as a child will create that fear and hatred. However, as an adult gardener I see their role and importance everyday in my yard. Without them, I would not be harvesting the bounty that I have! I'm sure you have all heard about the recent plight of the honeybees. The decline of them recently is very real and scientists still are not sure why. Some attribute. But they really do not know why. Through this research she is able t...
