Back To Home Page. My figurative work is a very thick woven pile that I can cut into and create forms. In my early work, these were a composition of shapes. As I worked, I pushed these forms into human anatomy. I love contrasting the sculptural form against a textured woven background. I have always shown these figurative sculptural forms in Plexiglas boxes because they could be changed by handling. The boxes keep them from getting soiled.

I then attended Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where I received my MFA in 1970. Back To Home Page. These works were inspired by a flag waving in the breeze. I wanted to capture the frozen moment. I weave a very luscious fabric which is held in place by the bonding of that fabric to a bendable mesh. I wanted these works to look like they are floating on their own strength. It took many experiments to make that happen. The newest works are the ribbons tangling and softening the space.

Back To Home Page. The garments that I have made are mostly for exhibition. I work in a collaborative fashion with Susan Widawski, a master designer and tailor. I produce the fabrics, which to me are very experimental like no fabrics you have ever seen and I suggest the kind of garment I would like to see that fabric made into. I have been very happy with our results.
