Cameron the Bog Lemming. Verona Cattail Festival Mascot. The official mascot of the Verona Cattail Festival is Cameron the Bog Lemming. During the Verona Cattail Festival, Cameron makes a special effort to stay awake throughout the day, but he's a very shy fellow, so we don't see him all that often. We asked Cameron to be our mascot because Verona is noted for its beautiful wetlands, plenty of cattails, most especially the Cameron Bog, for which he is named.

Verona Cattail Festival - Contests!

A Weekend of Fun Contests! The Red Green Cardboard and Duct Tape Boat Races. Each year on Festival Saturday, teams of families, friends and businesses compete to build a boat from nothing but cardboard and duct tape. (Duct tape is supplied courtesy of 3M Corporation.) The object is to build a craft that will carry two people around a short water course. Paddles are provided. Bring your $10 entry fee, a life jacket if you can, and your sense of humour! Races are run in heats, and winners take home a prize.

It is the Festival's 20th birthday! Over the last 20 years we have had many themes for our parade: Pirates, dinosaurs, ducks, clowns, bog buddies and more. Help us celebrate the last 20 years of parades. Use your imagination and dress in your favorite costumes from the past. Any group, person or business from Verona or area is welcome to take part. No previous registration or notice is required. Show up and you're in the parade! Use any one or all of the themes for your decorations.
