http://notlameblog.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. Mike Baron gets a few questions in with BRYAN SCARY! Many of you have by now read Mike Baron's glowing review. Of Bryan Scary's latest album, FLIGHT OF THE KNIFE. Mike was able to ask the always-busy Scary a few questions about this newest release. MB: I take it your main ax is the piano. How and when did you start training? MB: Do you compose on piano? MB: Whydja form the band? MB: What’s Take a Stab at the Sun about? It's about a mass suicide! But it's not necessarily as simple ...

The Long Player: December 2007
http://thelongplayer.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
A celebration of long playing records. Saturday, 22 December 2007. I've never been one for Christmas songs myself. If I hear Noddy Holder screaming 'It's Christmaaaasss. I cover my ears and head for the hills. Unlike my fellow blogger Mondo. I can fairly blaise. On a Christmas compilation on the cd. F my favourite records and my Mum at least loved it. The most recognisable track on the album is a feedback driven version of 'Little Drummer Boy'. Low a few bob when it was used on a GAP tv. Low add their ow...

http://waxfanatical.blogspot.com/2010/08/diggin-now-cee-lo-fk-you.html
Friday, August 20, 2010. Diggin' now. Cee-Lo 'F* k you'. Short post: This is a great track, and made me really excited for Cee-Lo's coming record. It's been a while since Mr. Green's been around solo, and this is a great come back. People easily offended by certain parts of the English language maybe should've watch this. Wax Fanatical: July 25, 1965: Dylan goes electric at Newport Folk Festival
http://waxfanatical.blogspot.com/2010/07/july-25-1965-dylan-goes-electric-at.html
Sunday, July 25, 2010. July 25, 1965: Dylan goes electric at Newport Folk Festival. Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone 1965. On this very day (July 25, 1965), 45 years ago, on a Sunday in Newport, R.I., Bob Dylan 'went electric,'. As the moment is called now. He was roundly heckled and booed for the performance, as many of the folk-heads seemed to be channeling their more picky and fickle hipster counterparts these days. In which 1965 Newport performance is played as an important event as well. Altered Zon...

Wax Fanatical: February 2010
http://waxfanatical.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 27, 2010. As promised earlier, this will be a breathless endorsement of Smash! In DCs Adams Morgan neighborhood. Its just a small place above a hair salon and next door to another record shop, Crooked Beats, which I have yet to visit, but it has plenty to offer. Best shop Ive visited in D.C. so far. Since I got home from Smash, its been like that all over again. And thats priceless. And thats why Ill be back at Smash very, very soon. Again, what I found at Smash after the jump. I wante...

Live Music in the Washington DC area and beyond. Laquo; Coachella 2010. Dilla Day – another re-post from Saj …. DC Record Fair – Black Cat Sunday 2.14. A few years ago my brother gave me an old school/new record player for my birthday. I was elated. I had inherited my Parents old record collection and had some collectors albums that I could now listen to. Something very musically romantic about Vinyl. There is a celebration of that goodness this weekend at the DC Record Fair. Thievery Corp.) 3pm-4pm.

Wax Fanatical: Digging Now... Isobell Campebll & Mark Lanegan - 'Hawk'
http://waxfanatical.blogspot.com/2010/08/digging-now-isobell-campebll-mark.html
Thursday, August 19, 2010. Digging Now. Isobell Campebll and Mark Lanegan - 'Hawk'. One is a former singer and cellist with Belle and Sebastian. Another comes as the leading man in the Screaming Trees. As this Pitchfork review notes. You may not have guessed, but this combination works. It really, really works. To be sure, Hawk is an anomaly, and the rest of the record fits into that folk/rock/country mold that Pitchfork review and I have mentioned. And the rest is really good too! Minneapolis transplant...

Wax Fanatical: July 2010

Wednesday, July 28, 2010. White Stripes to reissue catalogue on vinyl. Perhaps I'm late to this, but I read today the White Stripes have plans. To reissue their catalogue on vinyl. Needless to say, um, that'd be pretty awesome, and it's definitely one of the few vinyl reissues that I'd feel almost compelled to drop way too much money on investing in the handful or more new vinyl releases. But that - god, $100? Diggin' now. Stereo Total. Here's how the group's Web site described Stereo Total and its music:.
