作成日 2016-01-01 最終更新日 2016-01-01 ホワイトヘッド. 科学と近代世界 のうち、出版時に加筆された箇所では、ホワイトヘッドの最重要概念である 現実的生起 actual occasion という言葉が主として使われています。 科学と近代世界 のうち、ローウェル講義をもとにした諸章では、出来事は、原子的と呼ばれることはないものの、個体的 individual と形容されたり、有機体 organism と呼ばれたりしていました。 ホワイトヘッドは、ライプニッツが初めて、 宇宙の諸々のパースペクティブを映すモナドという概念 を用いたと言及したあと、 私も同じ概念を用いているが、ただ私は、彼のモナドという概念を、時間や空間における統一された出来事に格下げしている と述べています。 ローウェル講義の時空論によれば、任意の時空領域は 分離的特性 separative character によりそれぞれ区別された固有の領域を占め、重複せずに互いに外的になります。

作成日 2016-01-01 最終更新日 2016-01-01 近現代英米哲学. ウィリアム ジェイムズ William James, 1842-1910. 理学部にて化学、生物学、解剖学を学び、1864年 22歳 、医学部に転向、1869年 27歳 、学位を授かる。 1872年 30歳 、ハーヴァード大学で生理学講師、1876年 34歳 、生理学助教授となる。 ジェイムズの研究の目標は学生時代から哲学にあったが、研究時期に区分を設けるならば、 1 心理学時代1880年 、 2 宗教学、倫理学時代1890年 、 3 哲学時代1900 10年の3区分となる。 例えば、 心理学原理 では、直接に感じられる経験の連続性 意識の流れ という形でわれわれの意識を定式化し、実体的自我や霊魂、明確に区切られた原子論的な心像といった従来の学説を退けた。 プラグマティズム では、真理とはイメージと実在の一致ではなく、ある観念や概念から実際に引き出される個別の結果 ジェイムズはこれを 額面価格 と呼ぶ であり、異なる結果が出てこないのであれば、一見異なるように見える主張も実は同じだと述べ、ここでも具体性が重視される。

作成日 2016-01-01 最終更新日 2016-01-01 近現代英米哲学. サミュエル アレグザンダー, Samuel Alexander 1859-1938. 主著 空間、時間、神性 1920年 では、時空から物質、生命、神性が創発するという創発的進化論を提唱した。 ホワイトヘッドは、 科学と近代世界 の序文で、アレグザンダーに多くを負っていると述べており、ホワイトヘッドの永遠的客体論や神論は、アレグザンダーの 空間、時間、神性 を批判的に超克する中で影響を受けたと考えられる。 その時空論によれば、時間と空間は本来一つであって、時間と空間が分離されていない 点 瞬間point-instant あるいは 純粋出来事pure event のみが存在する STD I-48。 それぞれの 点 瞬間 あるいは 純粋出来事 は部分的な有限の時空であり、連続的全体としての無限の時空の限定であると考えられる。 普遍はパターンあるいは時空的形相とも呼ばれるが STD I-214 、不変的で永遠的な存在ではない。
