Birding with John: Snipe & Serin. On Sunday last, John and I headed down to Newhaven Tide-mills on the east coast of Sussex; despite it not being a nature reserve it is a decent bit of scrubby, reedy, rough land with a creek and some ruins. My 2016: Birds & other wildlife – Wildlife and Words
https://wildlifeandwords.wordpress.com/2016/12/29/2016-birds-wildlife
My 2016: Birds and other wildlife. Started the year at Dungeness in Kent where I saw my 1st ever Long-eared Owl roosting on the reserve as well as a smart male Smew (a gorgeous sea duck). Then at RSPB Pulborough brooks I saw 2 hunting Short-eared Owls and witnessed one of the most beautiful and memorable sunsets of my life surrounded by thousands of wild duck. Finished the month with a lovely Firecrest at Arundel in West Sussex. Then went on a long walk along the Dorset coast path for 4 days during which...

Bramblings & Crossbills – Wildlife and Words
https://wildlifeandwords.wordpress.com/2016/11/27/bramblings-crossbills
Went for a rather cold but thrillingly autumnal walk up on the beautiful Ashdown forest today; the sky was grey, the air sunk its chilly claws right into your bones, the trees were dropping orange-brown leaves and the holly bushes were dripping in scarlet drupes. Winter Bramblings – 1956. For those not in the know, Bramblings (. Five Crossbills are visible here. I am 22 years old, I live in England, I am fascinated by wildlife, books, history, science, film, art and many other things! November 27, 2016.

The Not-So-Secret Diary of an OverEater. My Battle to Have a Healthy Relationship with Food. September 21, 2016. Whatever happened to Lazy Liz? Me with Ian at Kira’s 18th birthday party March 2016. Spoiler alert * *. She’s gone and Lean Liz is here, and here to stay! I’d lose a pound or two, then they would creep back and bring some friends with them. Daily I would lose the battle with food and end up eating and eating. Three weeks of “deprivation”, just for one measly pound? I’m only 46 and in fac...

Cute and quirky Amélie Poulain decides that since the world can sometimes be cesspit of shit, she’s gonna do the little things she can to make it better, i.e; helping others and sorting out the problems of people around her. Of course she find the love she’s always wanted along the way. Who’s in it? The amazing Audrey Tautou and a bunch other amazing French actors whose names I will not bother to type for the sake of my. The Not-So-Secret Diary of an OverEater. My Battle to Have a Healthy Relationship with Food. And now for something completely different! March 19, 2015. What is your earliest memory? What was your favourite Christmas present? That’s a tricky one! I think probably my favourite is when we bought tickets for the girls to see One Direction in concert. They were both fans at the time and they were so excited when they opened the gift! We made a day of it and climbed up and over the O2 in the snow! That has to...

The Not-So-Secret Diary of an OverEater. My Battle to Have a Healthy Relationship with Food. Feeling better already…. April 27, 2015. I’ve lost 5lbs since I last posted! I am really pleased with that as it’s been hard but I do feel a bit better already. My jeans aren’t quite so tight (squeezing my flabby self into those skinny jeans wasn’t easy! And I don’t have quite so much around my middle to rest my elbows on when I’m sitting down. If I’m totally honest though, it could be a faster pace because...

The Not-So-Secret Diary of an OverEater. My Battle to Have a Healthy Relationship with Food. An attempt to explain. March 2, 2015. A good friend said to me recently that when she read my last blog it made her want to cry. I assumed she meant because I’d written that my dad had given me a rare compliment and I was pleased that I was making him proud, especially as he doesn’t share his feelings very often. (That makes me cry – happy cry – when I think about it.). Perhaps I’ll always be unhappy with s...

Overfished and Underloved – JENNA'S CONSERVATION
https://jennasconservation.wordpress.com/2015/10/22/overfished-and-underloved
October 22, 2015. October 22, 2015. I eat fish probably once a week. There are 1 billion people around the world who depend on fish as their main protein source, and over half the world’s population gets 15% of their protein from fish. But how much is that really? In 2012, total fish production from fisheries and aquaculture was 158 million tonnes. Nearly double the production of 20 years ago. These are all big numbers, but what does it really mean? You wouldn’t eat a Giant Panda if it was offered ...

Notes and Thoughts on Nature and Books. A resolution: go somewhere new.
