One Englishwoman's work. One finished crown. The first pretty princess to try it on was our neighbour Beth (19) amidst must squealing, and then her mum, Helen, who didn’t want to take it off again. You can’t see it because I folded it under, but the crown cap has a big silk fingerloop at the top. It’s completely inauthentic, but it’s there to help the crown handler becuase the thing weighs over a pound and I figure toddlers need to have it partially supported. I’m beginning to wonder if I should have had the central mounts (the ones with the big pink topazes in) gilded as well, but perhaps I’ll feel differently once I’ve made them shinier? I’s a bi of a toss up, to be honest. The topazes are quite translucent, so gilding the mounts would maybe make them look a bit orange, keeping them silver lets the pink stay pink. There is something about that blue and white enamel that just looks outrageously medeival though. Posted in princess crown.
