Katie in Kampala: May 2011
http://katieinkampala.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 31, 2011. It's nearly 4 pm on a gorgeous, sunny day in Kampala. I have spent the past several hours sitting on the porch of my lovely house in the Nakulabye neighborhood, sipping coffee, eating mango, and chatting with Nelly, one of my housemates who will be interning at the Refugee Law Project this summer. The porch of my summer home, where I will be spending much of my time. The view of Kampala from my porch. I arrived at the Entebbe airport in Uganda on Saturday afternoon. Four days until...

Katie in Kampala: July 2011
http://katieinkampala.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Saying "I Do" with Women of Kireka. Jennifer modeling one of the wedding headbands. It's been a while. I blame my weeks-long absence on being too busy at the office and having too much fun in Kampala. While I've been away Women of Kireka have been busy: we hosted several groups of visitors at the office, participated in an event for women entrepreneurs organized by the Women of Uganda Network. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Santa examining some new materials from Kikuubo Road. To the ...

Katie in Kampala: Beads... and Bowls!?!
http://katieinkampala.blogspot.com/2011/06/beads-and-bowls.html
Monday, June 13, 2011. While back in Kireka on Wednesday, however, Elder surprised me with a beautiful set of paper bowls that she'd created. While already of great quality, with a few finishing touches to the bowls, Elder and Women of Kireka may have a new product that will allow them to break into the world of eco-friendly home goods. June 13, 2011 at 9:10 AM. The bowls are gorgeous! Keep the photos coming! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Women and Public Policy Program Summer Fellows.

Katie in Kampala: Muzungu! How is Obama?
http://katieinkampala.blogspot.com/2011/06/muzungu-how-is-obama.html
Monday, June 13, 2011. Of my many adventures last week was a quest to find a weighing scale (Women of Kireka had an order of loose beads to fill). Leaving my home in Nakulabye I was content to head towards the city center stopping every few feet to inquire “weighing scale? 8221;) evolved into “Muzungu! Where are you from? 8221; My response generated a chorus of “Muzungu! The order of loose beads, packaged and ready to go. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
