Woodturning at Christmas Cottage. Woodturner using mainly local woods from sustainable Peak District sources to make bowls, plates, objets d'art and other useful smaller items. All products made in my workshop opposite the courtyard Display Room here in Youlgrave, Derbyshire. Commissions undertaken. Sales at Christmas Cottage are organised in the front room for Spring Bank Holiday weekend and Youlgrave Wells Week, and pre-Christmas weekends where we tempt you with mince pies.

Creating interesting firewood…. August 28th, 2014 Author: Bill. The kiddo and I cast a blank a while back and I finally got around to turning it. The ‘wood’ inside is just the tops of acorns found in the yard. We weren’t sure how much resin to mix and ended up making 2 batches. We pearlized the 2nd batch and swirled it in a bit. It turned out much better than anticipated! A piece of the blank is below the pen in the picture. Buffalo, you infernal beast! May 5th, 2014 Author: Bill. Pen tube with gunk.

Recently I’ve had a lot of email queries about either blog posts or YouTube videos, most of which are pleasant enough, the odd one which I’ve found a little annoying as they required some time to answer and amounted to email tuition!
