今回のアルバム『YOU MORE』は初のセルフプロデュースで、とにかく難しいことを考えず楽しくやろう、というのがコンセプトだったようです。ライブでも語っていましたが、「こうでなきゃいけない」「こうしてやろう」というような、ヒットメーカーなればこそのくびきと重圧から解放されて、欲求の赴くままに雑多な音を鳴らした、という観が確かにあります。ベースの福岡晃子も「聴いて感じたままのアルバムです。それ以上の意味はない」と断言していました。 圧巻だったのは本編最後の「余韻」。 終盤にかけひたすら同じフレーズを繰り返す「チャット節」を全開にし、そして怒濤のアウトロへ。これまで見られかかった極太のエネルギーがポップロックの枠を打ち破り、観客はあっけにとられて微動だにできない状態でした。 12300;余韻を楽しんでください」という橋本のマエ説ではじまったこの曲が終わったとき、果たしてアンコールの拍手をしていいものかどうか、ビミョーな空気観が客席を覆っていました。 ここまでやるなら、いっそはじめに「アンコールなし！」と宣言してやればよかったですね。 この日はたまたま中国地方への出張帰りだったので、平日でしたが...
