Hiroshima Cock's-Eye Mahjong News & Other Stuff: August 2006

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, August 26, 2006. Friday 25th August: Introducing Hide. I spent the day playing golf with Jaime at the Forest Hills Golf Club near Hiroshima Airport. The golf course is so near the airport that as we attempted to blast our balls up the fairway we could see an aircraft readying itself for take-off just beyond the trees behind the green. I shall spare the details about our progress around the course as Jaime has dwelt on that in more detail on his.

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Sunday, May 28, 2006. Friday 26th May: Prevented by a Debilitating Fever. The stresses and strains of the last month finally caught up with The Poor Little Cypriot. The last straw was probably the inclement weather. It is usually warm in Hiroshima in late May but Thursday and Friday evenings were chilly and Friday was wet. However, there is a place where one can read a faithful account of these events, and that place is here. The score sheet reads:. Every...

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, April 15, 2006. A Long Good Friday: 8 Games, 3 Yakitori, 4 Changes of Fortune. Noda was the starting. In the opening game and was obviously trying for. David thought he would be able to get away it when he declared. On a two tile wait, hoping that Noda would be forced to break up his hand. Instead, the second or third tile David drew after declaring was. Fortunately, none of these antics occurred when the other players were rubbernecking to see ...

Hiroshima Cock's-Eye Mahjong News & Other Stuff: September 2006
http://hirohurl.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Thursday, September 21, 2006. Friday 15th September: Noda and Jaime's Fortunes Continue Contrariwisely Apace. Jaime and I spent the early part of this evening up at the Mitaki golf practice range in preparation for Tuesdays round of golf at Forest Hills. More practice is definitely needed, and more time reading David Leadbetter's "The Golf Swing". Thus, despite Kenyon adding to his score for the evening by winning the sixth game, his ambition to "catch No...

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Friday, March 31, 2006. Tuesday 28th March: A Game for All Seasons in One Day. The 7:45 train train from Itsukaichi to Hiroshima arrives at Itsukaichi at about 7:35. It comes from Hiroshima so everybody gets off which means that it is dead easy to get a seat - ideal if you are lugging a set of golf clubs during the morning rush hour. I was on my way to meet Jaime at Hiroshima and head off to Yoshina with him to play golf at the. Misawa Setouchi Golf Resort.

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, February 18, 2006. Friday 17th February: A Smoke Filled Room. Kodama was packed tonight, with five tables busy and the atmosphere thick with smoke, just like it used to be every Friday a few years ago. I wonder if mama had expected them because she had made some extra good side dishes for the drinks. This is what I got with my first beer while waiting for Noda and Ray to arrive:. Anyway, down to business. Because there were only three of us (Jai...

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, January 28, 2006. Not Marching in the Field of Trasimene. I had a curry lunch with my old chum Flaminius. I happened to receive the latest copy of History Ireland from the dear aged pater and had been admiring the works of various artists featured in its pages while riding the tram into town. There was an article about the Irish neo-classical painter and friend of Edmund Burke, James Barry. Dressed in ancient paint-encrusted clothes.". Our art h...

Hiroshima Cock's-Eye Mahjong News & Other Stuff: July 2006

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, July 29, 2006. Friday 28th July: Kenyon Plummets Back into the Red. On the Grand Accumulated Results Table. Only Noda, who did not play tonight, is in the black on a stratospheric 666. Ray made the early running, winning the first game and coming in a healthy second-and-in-the-black on 58 in the second game, but by then the baton had been handed over to David who finished top on 97, chiefly at Kenyon's expense. And thrown a 6-Bamboo. David h...

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Saturday, October 28, 2006. Friday 27th October: Hurled Down With Hideous Ruin and Combustion. This was the game that almost didn't happen - and somehow I wish it hadn't although the evening was certainly diverting. With Jaime absent and nobody seeming to be able to fill the gap at the table I called off the game at 5:30pm. Then at 5:31pm Eri mailed me to say that she'd like to play. Eri, your timing is atrocious! With hideous ruin and combustion, down.

Hiroshima Cock's-Eye Mahjong News & Other Stuff: June 2006

Hiroshima Cocks-Eye Mahjong News and Other Stuff. Sunday, June 25, 2006. Friday 23rd June: How Noda Disqualifies Our Excuses. When you find yourself in a losing streak, such as my losing streak this quarter, you search around for excuses. Unfortunately, as this latest mahjong session amply demonstrated, all excuses are invalidated by Noda. Excuse no 1: I got drunk. The Noda Disqualification: Noda regularly wins while drunk. Excuse no 2: I am knackered because I have had a busy week. To every thing in thi...
