1000 Foot General: Historicon 2015
http://1000footgeneral.blogspot.com/2015/07/historicon-2015.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. I'd written off Historicon this year after we made plans for a week long vacation in California. I couldn't spare the additional days off, and resigned myself to visiting one of the other HMGS cons later in the year. My son really wanted to attend Historicon though, and after he pleaded with my wife and I we drove down for a short Saturday only visit. My pics from our trip after the jump. We also made several passes through the game hall to check out the other games. After my wife ...

http://1000footgeneral.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-update.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. I saw a lotta cool stuff recently. I haven't posted lately because my summer has been so busy. Work continues on the terrain boards, but I've been doing quite a bit more hobby and gaming related activities as well. Check out my adventures after the jump. The Imperials have dedicated a lot of Gladiators to this sector of space. I also made it to the San Diego Comic Con for the first time this year. WOW! The new Imperial Raider corvette for X-Wing:TMG. And being a true Star Wars nerd...

Thursday, January 8, 2015. New Year's Dungeon Bash. After this summers dungeon crawl. I was eager to make some tweaks to the rules and run it again. The holidays seemed like an awesome time to get some friends together so we grabbed some beers and dice on New Years Eve and ran a wintery dungeon crawl. All the details after the jump. Links to this post. Thursday, January 1, 2015. 2014 Year End Round Up. If it's not lead, it doesn't count as adding to "Lead Mountain", right? This year I completed:. Unfortu...

1000 Foot General: Dark Ages Color Palettes
http://1000footgeneral.blogspot.com/2012/09/dark-ages-color-palettes.html
Saturday, September 1, 2012. Dark Ages Color Palettes. I've been noodling the idea of starting the Dark Ages / Norman Conquest / Normans in Italy / 1st Crusade period, but since it's on the back burner I'm taking my time and planning out how I want to tackle Yet Another Period. I read some really good posts on Model Dad's blog about dark ages dying techniques and color schemes. Fabric Colors of the Anglo Saxon World. Ms Dean seems pretty reliable regarding natural dying techniques of early Britain, so I'...

Tabletop Mog: Napoleonic Goodness
http://tabletopmog.blogspot.com/2015/07/napoleonic-goodness.html
Saturday, 11 July 2015. This morning I popped down to the Polly to join Quint and Ade. My Prussians were too late arriving today to appear on the table, but hopefully will get an airing soon. The battle did not get too far as there was quite a bit of debate (all positive and constructive), and explanation of concepts. however, an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on a Saturday! 14 July 2015 at 08:54. 6 September 2015 at 08:39. What are these rules all about then? 6 September 2015 at 08:40. The Men Who W...

Hail Caesar - Conquest of Britain: Turn 2 is coming (at last) ...
http://hccob.blogspot.com/2013/05/turn-2-is-coming.html
Wednesday, 22 May 2013. Turn 2 is coming (at last) . Well, all I can say is : time really flies! Sorry for the lack of updates on these past few months, "real life" came into play and we had to postpone twice our monthly battle. Finally, May is here (but not the sun) and two weeks ago we played the turn 2 of the campaign. I will post this turn report very soon, by the end of the week I think (Franck is working on the maps right now). First the gauls, with the Alae II. Gallorum Sebosiana :.

Adventures of an historical wargamer in the wilds of Arkansas. In my unending (and potentially ill-advised) quest to interest some of my non-wargaming friends in miniatures wargaming, I set up a game of Chain of Command, which I refereed, while two of said friends played. In the end the Germans won, despite a couple of blunders on my part. The weight of all those MG-42s was too much for the Americans to overcome. Of course, the best part about playing solitaire is you always win! On a somber note, I.

The Sublime Idealist: Robertus Cooks: Risotto!
http://sublimeidealist.blogspot.com/2013/01/robertus-cooks-risotto.html
Neither man nor nation can survive without the sublime Idea. Monday, January 07, 2013. All I know about risotto is that Gordon Ramsay really gets salty when a contestant botches it on Hell’s Kitchen. I don’t blame him, I’d be sore if contestants on my cooking show didn’t watch my other cooking show. Dice up half an onion, throw it in a sauce pan with some olive oil. 1b No, you fool! These are different things! Add a cup of arborio rice, make sure it gets coated in the oil. Add 1/3 to the rice.
The Sublime Idealist: Beer Mystery Status: Solved
http://sublimeidealist.blogspot.com/2014/07/beer-mystery-status-solved.html
Neither man nor nation can survive without the sublime Idea. Tuesday, July 01, 2014. Beer Mystery Status: Solved. The wife recently started a blog to talk about and share recipes from our CSA box. Which made me think "hey I have one of those," which made me realize it's been almost a year since I've posted. So, from the "Better Late than Never" department, an update to The Mystery of Beer. Short answer: We solved our problem. The problem with that approach is that fermentation is exothermic. Periodically...
