Ólafur Egilsson: February 2006
http://basilfursti.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 05, 2006. The World of Peer Gynt has begun to render itself more clearly before our eyes and between our ears. The white tiles and plastic sheets of set of designer Grétar Reynisson set a chillingly cold tone for the dissection of Peer's life. The main premise of this multilayer play. We have started rehearsals again after a week's break following a week's workshop at the small village of Hofsós. Ca 400 km north of Reykjavík. We rehersed at the old museum of the migration to canada.

Monday, June 26, 2006. Just got back from the Ruhrfestspiele festival in Germany, Vesturport was there to perform R&J at the Schauspielhaus in Recklinghausen, in German! As usual Börkur and Hlynur managed to perform a minor miracle by rigging and building the set in about 36 hours. With some help from the German Stage hand Robots. Yes Hermann mine. like Dengsi used to say. As well as Tybalt. the Ratcatcher. To counter the stresseffect and provide relief, we bought a mascot - Otto the Donkey. And outside ...

Tuesday, April 15, 2008. I've been neglecting to update my blog now for the past year so now I'm going to try to briefly summarize in a few words and pics the whole of last year. In january I started working for my old college's theater "Á Herranótt". Previously I had directed "The heart of a dog" by Bulgakov (That was back in 2003). Rehearsals went well and we went for a premiere early in february if I remember correctly. So we did some character work. Then there was the premiere of "Lilliom", entitled ...

Friday, May 25, 2007. Somtime around christmass I went to visit my brother Gunnlaugur in Stockholm to see the premiere of his work "Ossuarium", a ballet he choreographed for the "Kungliga Operaen" (There is link here on the right for some more information and pictures). The "Ossuarium" was brilliant, even if I admit to being severly partial. A tender ode to death's mystery, well done indeed brother. Posted by Ólafur Egill at 12:08 AM. Saturday, May 19, 2007. We had not played together for a couple of mon...

Thursday, January 25, 2007. Pictures from Vesturports trip to Ludwigshaven Germany with Woyzeck. Ludwigshaven is a strange place, it is the home of the BASF chemical plant in which some 30.000 people work I was told, it's population is 60% Turkish and 40% German and besides being close to where Buchner, the author of Woyzeck, was born it seems as if our Woyzeck could easily have taken place in this grey industrial sprawl. And a pineapple was cut in celebration of our arrival. Although Vikingur was not in...
