A total of ten people were making the journey to the frozen Khatling Glacier. One of our co-travelers was an eighty-six-year-old porter. He had hiked the Himalayas extensively in his youth but had never visited the sacred Kedarnath temple. Now, he was inspired to visit this place of worship before his death. Sep 21, 2016. I realised this is because people have an inherent fear of Nature. Unfortunately, like Nature, the Himalayan gods can be malevolent at times. Our cook announced that his ice axe had fallen into the river while he was crossing it. The only sharp object he possessed was a Nepalese khukri. However, he was not intimidated by the task at hand.

Since mountainous terrains are sparsely populated, this structure has not evolved much. For generations, people have adhered to this five note structure, since they did not have the exposure to the music prevalent in the plains. Thus the number of notes in hill music is always limited. Monday, December 24, 2007. Get ready for take off! We're about to go on a castle tour! I read somewhere that at one time there were more than 10,000 castles in Spain! That number now stands at about 2,500. We rented a VW Golf during which time we drove over 1,000 miles from Madrid to San Sebastian, stopping to see some of those castles along the way.
