Karin Jurick Paints: Painting 'Fond Memories'
http://karinjurickpaints.blogspot.com/2013/01/painting-fond-memories.html
Wednesday, January 16, 2013. After a couple months of indulging in wonderfully, delicious foods through the holidays (I had a bucket list on paper. You know), after all my wishes for sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie (any kind of pie really), Toll House cookies, pancakes, cheeseburgers and fries . (I'm drooling as I type) . I am back in, what I call 'Calorie Prison'. So now I live vicariously through Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Above is my original photo blown up on my Mac screen. Swervy, loose painting.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013. My Favorite Things Part 3. It's a personal thing with painters. I know that. If you have your favorites, it's because it either just feels right in your hand or you're convinced it's the secret to how well you paint. Which is why I ended up liking American Painter brushes. They're cheap. I use them until they're spent then give them to an artist friend who believes in bringing them back to life. January 23, 2013 at 2:41 PM. February 12, 2013 at 7:13 PM. Those are my favorite ...

Tuesday, April 16, 2013. My Favorite Things - Part 4. Please pardon the delay in adding new posts - life was complicated for a couple of months. I fully intend to keep adding new painting processes including recommendations, like this one. You know I have an addiction to colors - in case you missed the post about my palette. Use and I'm probably on my 10th tube of each of these. They are my essentials,. And I'll tell you why. A big favorite of mine, Richeson Oils' Leaf Green - that gold/green that is ess...

Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Painting "100 Faces, No. 113". I'm not going to show you the mugshot I painted from, out of respect for the real guy. Trust me when I tell you the original police mugshot is blah in color and lighting, as most are. That's what imagination is for. I picked this face because of the glasses. I need the practice on glasses. Starting with my 4" square panel. Just a quick sketch. The way I think about a face is the same I think about a landscape. As you see in earlier posts. I also...

Karin Jurick Paints: Color, Color, Color
http://karinjurickpaints.blogspot.com/2013/10/color-color-color.html
Tuesday, October 29, 2013. Color, Color, Color. Please pardon my absence - I get so into things and forget to organize a posting. Here are the acrylic colors I chose . An acidy green, white, a lipsticky red, a wine tone, Indian Yellow and an aqua I had already. And I just went to town mixing. Then I loosely painted the acrylic on white, pre-gessoed panels. I favor warm grounds, but included some purples and cool blues. November 7, 2013 at 4:20 PM. Would love to read your thoughts on this. December 23, 20...

Karin Jurick Paints: Painting 'Toledo'
http://karinjurickpaints.blogspot.com/2013/01/painting-toledo.html
Monday, January 14, 2013. The original photo blown up on my computer screen. I zeroed in on a portion that interested me - created a good composition, formatted to a square and removed the 'unwanteds', like the clouds, some trees, etc. Sometimes I add a guide line. Down and across the middle to help me get started with proportions,. Especially when there's a building involved. So I have my square panel, already painted with a black ground and ready to go. I'm ready to paint. Just play with color and light.

Brenda Bogart: gangsters and other men
http://brendabogart.blogspot.com/2011/06/gangsters-and-other-men.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Gangsters and other men. What started as a skill building exercise, inspired by. Karin Jurick's Bust-Ed series. Has turned into this 64 piece collection of 4" x 4" paintings. I learned so much.like painting an evil guy in pink makes him look less evil. Some of these guys look eerily familiar. Below are close ups of a few of my favorites:. To check out my new work at Mecox Dallas. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dallas, Texas, United States. View my complete profile. But this...
