Nelson Mandela Road (to freedom) - The Kidbrooke Kite
http://www.kidbrookekite.co.uk/2013/12/nelson-mandela-road-to-freedom.html
Monday, 9 December 2013. Nelson Mandela Road (to freedom). Nothing quite sums up the epic struggle undertaken by Nelson Mandela like two wilted flowers wrapped in foil and sellotaped to a road sign. Nelson Mandela Road is one of at least 25 roads in the UK named after the former South African president. According to the BBC. The article details several examples of plans for other roads named after Mandela in the eighties that were fought off by local people. This seems unlikely to me, but who knows?

http://www.kidbrookekite.co.uk/2010/10/waiting-for-southeastern-at-kidbrooke.html
Thursday, 7 October 2010. Waiting for Southeastern at Kidbrooke Station. I've just been down at Kidbrooke Station talking to the owner of the new(ish) coffee kiosk on platform one. The kiosk is a great addition, which makes the station feel like a much friendlier place, but the Kite can reveal that it almost didn't come to Kidbrooke at all. In fact the owner Niall only moved into the station in April after waiting a staggering four years to get permission from Southeastern. The motivation it seems is to ...
