Reasons to Love Scotland. A Red Wine Lover's Musings on Scotland. Skip to primary content. Where to Eat in Edinburgh. May 7, 2013. A selection of tried and tested places to eat in Edinburgh. There’s barely anything I like more than eating out. Of course, it’s never pleasant to leave a restaurant unsatisfied. Fortunately, in Edinburgh that’s unlikely, so good is the selection of eateries in the city. So, whether you’re a local or a visitor, these are just some of your many options. Bon appetit! Quite poss...

betsy bensen jewelry: March 2014
http://betsybensen.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 15, 2014. After making jewelry for more years than I care to count, I've finally come to the realization that it might be nice to create collections of jewelry as opposed to jumping from one random stone to the next just because I want to bezel every stone I see! So I reigned myself in this past month, and came up with these two collections so far. Beautiful Willow Creek jasper that was part of this group. In Astoria, Oregon. This bunch of cabs I bought most recently with this group.

betsy bensen jewelry: more treasure
http://betsybensen.blogspot.com/2014/02/more-treasure.html
Friday, February 21, 2014. It's no surprise. at least not to me. that I'm back with more stones. I sat down with my favorite stone dealer yesterday, someone I've done business with for many years, and came home with a treasure trove! I'll probably stop buying stones for just a little bit. If I keep myself from looking at them, I won't be tempted to buy. ; ). The fossils. Coral and palm. Love working with these stones! And all of these little bird body shapes I'll use for my litter tweeter bird brooches o...

betsy bensen jewelry: July 2013
http://betsybensen.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Some daughter time and 2 new brooches. I used the Montana agate from the previous post. Pairing it with a .22ct rose cut diamond, and a cool little stick pearl. Mostly sterling, with an 18kt gold bezel surrounding the diamond, and 14kt gold rivets through the pearl. I'm really pleased with it, and the backside of the agate brings into crisp relief what appears on the front as the fuzzy insides of the stone. Does anyone else see a cartoon character here? betsy bensen jewelry: December 2013
http://betsybensen.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 16, 2013. I've taken a loooong break from blogging and there's a 6 week back up of brooches. With 2 weeks left in the etsymetal brooch-a-week challenge year, here are brooches #45 -50. 45 is a lightweight sterling silver dotted "wreath" in time for the holidays. Well, it was in time for the holidays when I completed it 6 weeks ago. 46 features a dark Montana agate set in sterling with three 14kt gold rivets. Brooch # 49 is a lovely taupe fossil palm cab. betsy bensen jewelry: Sonoran Sunrise
http://betsybensen.blogspot.com/2014/01/sonoran-sunrise.html
Wednesday, January 29, 2014. I purchased these Sonoran Sunrise cabs from a fellow jeweler recently. (Thank you, Karen! Sonoran Sunrise is the apt name given to the the red mineral, cuprite ( copper bearing) in chrysocolla. It's found in Mexico, and do these colors ever "pop" together! And this batch is probably some of the most intense I've seen! January 30, 2014 at 4:01 PM. Do they really look that awesome in real life? January 30, 2014 at 4:11 PM. Yes, no kidding! painting in the barn: February 2015
http://ingridellison.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 9, 2015. Yesterday, at last. My otherwise perfect studio has had its fair share of hiccups this winter in the heat department. I had my trusty friend George, thank-you! Come by and jigger the Rinnai this week so that yesterday, Sunday, I got to spend the entire afternoon finishing up a painting that I had set aside in the deep freeze. It feels a little winter in palette and summer in content. Wishful thinking to warmer climes? 24x24" oil, mixed media on panel. Wednesday, February 4, 2015.

painting in the barn: another day in June
http://ingridellison.blogspot.com/2015/06/another-day-in-june.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Another day in June. A wet day in June. Stranded in the studio. Chasing an idea that has been percolating for months. Beginning with one novel: We the Drowned. And ending with another: Moby Dick. In between there were a lot of experiments. False starts and drawings. Of waves and nets and shipwrecks. Of night skies and cast lines. Of floating and being swept to shore. Its all paint and pencil. Brush and line and color. June 30, 2015 at 4:33 AM. July 14, 2015 at 6:53 AM.

With needle and stick: April 2014
http://withneedleandstick.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
With needle and stick. Friday, April 25, 2014. No Sewing. But Thoughtful Design Work. But, sewing is out of the question right now. My sewing room is a mess, but I look. Forward to starting back soon. I have lots of projects I am considering and two commissions for coats. So as I drive around taking kids hither and thither, and running errands, this gorgeous coat by L'Wren Scott is certainly starting the thought process for some interesting designs.
