Pop Culture Junkie: Darkness
http://stoneypop.blogspot.com/2010/09/darkness.html
Sunday, September 19, 2010. It is dark here. Maybe the darkest I’ve ever seen. I know there is more here if I can only find whatever it is. In my. Nervousness I’ve struggled to reach out for some kind of clue. All there seems to be is the rough ground beneath. My feet and the feel of the cold hand-me-down jewelry around my wrists. Is it hot in here or is it just me? The strong smell of pine is as hard to miss as the splinters that irritate every inch of my back. The itch is so intense. It hard to even re...

Pop Culture Junkie: December 2009
http://stoneypop.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 1, 2009. In case you might be wondering, the picture just to the left is from my old school - Frankfurt American Junior High in Frankfurt, Germany. The picture is from what I can tell, a rough scan taken from the 1980/81 yearbook which means that buried in the middle of all those plastic winter jackets and faded blue jean clad kids could be yours truly. What does this have to do with pop culture? I'm sure I thought so then. Sadly this was the last of the good times for a while. We t...

Pop Culture Junkie: April 2010
http://stoneypop.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 9, 2010. Clash of Titan-ic Proportions. As many nostalgia buffs flock to movie theaters to check out the 2010 remake of 1981 adventure/scifi classic "Clash of the Titans", just as many seem to be flocking to video stores to pick up copies of the original DVD release as well as recent remastered re-release. Clash of the Titans" circa 1981 is one of my fave movies of all time and I'm hoping that the new version at least comes close to living up to the original. But why take my word for it?

Pop Culture Junkie: March 2009
http://stoneypop.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 4, 2009. The year was 1976 and I had just landed in the center of the U.S. from a four-year stint in Zweibrucken, Germany. Well, at least close to the center as we were always told that the exact middle of America was somewhere in Kansas and Dad got stationed in Fort Riley. So for all intents and purposes, we were in the general vicinity. There's was always plenty to do and better yet, it could be done without the assistance of parents. This went on for weeks! So I gave up. Another part ...

Every 70s Movie: Walkabout (1971)
http://every70smovie.blogspot.com/2011/05/walkabout-1971.html
Saturday, May 14, 2011. Iconoclastic British filmmaker Nicolas Roeg defined his cinematic identity with Walkabout. The first feature he directed alone. Previously, he earned notoriety as the cinematographer of stylish films including Petulia. 1968), and he tested the directorial waters by co-helming the bizarre crime flick Performance. 1970) with Donald Cammell. Yet Roeg’s distinct style of brainiac surrealism didn’t fully emerge until Walkabout. This is all very heady stuff for an outdoor-survival story...

Every 70s Movie: Lolly-Madonna XXX (1973)
http://every70smovie.blogspot.com/2015/08/lolly-madonna-xxx-1973.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. On the plus side, the dueling-rednecks picture Lolly-Madonna XXX. From her own novel of the same name, it’s fair to say that Grafton was still learning how to construct plots. Richard c. sarafian. One of the last titles released by the studio before they shuttered their distribution arm. MGM distributed their films through United Artists for the remainder of the decade. Every 70s Movie: Zaat (1971)
http://every70smovie.blogspot.com/2015/08/zaat-1971.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Easily one of the dullest creature features ever made, the awful Floridian indie Zaat. Concerns a mad scientist who contrives a formula that transforms him into a giant walking catfish, even as he unleashes a plague of actual. Walking catfish onto unsuspecting residents of the Sunshine State. Not giant. 8217;s best claim to fame is that it was ridiculed on a 1999 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Oh, and if you care—which you don’t—the title Zaat. View my complete profile.
