Vacation/staycation- the best of both worlds. Brian finally had some vacation time last week.Hallelujah! We were both missing Jack and family, and thanks to Grandy, we were able to fly back to Alabama for a quick visit. It was just what we needed. And apparently, just what our family needed too. It's nice to be missed sometimes! Time spent away from family makes the time we have together even more special. Was excited about our early morning excursion and the metro was much. It was a beautiful morning.

Country came to town. I kid I kid. But really, my folks flew up to DC all the way from sweet home Alabama to spend Christmas with us. Mom had this crazy idea to take the first flight on Christmas morning, which left Birmingham at 6:00 am Needless to say, we all crashed when Adler took a nap. The photos below represent a moment that marked history in the Cooke and Wood households. Per Brian's request, Mom and I cooked Christmas dinner! Adler was fading fast, and nap time was quickly approaching. I dec...

Winter graced us with our first Northern Virginia snow experience in early January. After spending way too much time searching for cute toddler snow suits online, I hurried to Target when I saw snow in the forecast and grabbed the first snow bib that fit Adler. She didn't enjoy the snow the way I imagined she would. In fact, she hated it. See? And after 20 minutes of being very creative in my efforts,. She kept saying, "It's cold! In her adorable, southern accent. Chasing shadows across the street. Tryin...

Life is good. We are slowly, but surely, preparing a space for our sweet baby girl. I never thought I would procrastinate decorating her nursery, but procrastinate I have. So much to do, so little time! Brian tells Hushpuppy (baby's nickname) to come out and play almost every night. The moment he becomes a dad will be one of my favorite moments we will ever share together. She is one lucky little princess to have Brian as her daddy. We cannot wait to meet our little girl! I have been off the radar for quite some time now, and I figured it's about time I got back to writing. The past eight months have been slightly crazy for us. Thank goodness we can handle crazy! To sum it all up in one simple sentence, minus the boring details: We have moved three times. The eight months started in. A modern, city-style loft in Downtown Birmingham. Then onto my parent's house in Tuscaloosa. And finally, to our cozy little cookie cutter house in Leeds. Subscribe to: Post Comments ( Atom ).

Are these tiny photos not hilarious? Sugar and spice and everything nice. B and I are tickled pink and absolutely thrilled! Last week we shared a couple of very sweet afternoons in the physician's lounge in labor and delivery at St. Vincent's East. (One of the perks of Brian being in medical school.) The two of us, an ultrasound machine, one of the on-call residents. and we watched our baby in awe. And that's where we found out that our little "hushpuppy" is a girl! Brian has been on a very demanding service at the hospital this month, and unfortunately Adler and I have spent a lot of time without him. Our cozy little apartment can get lonely without B here, so I asked my mom if she could come visit. I didn't have to ask twice! She was in town for 5 days last week, and it was nothing short of a very welcomed break for us. We enjoyed every minute that we got to spend with her. Five days of fun flew by fast! We explored new places and visited some trusty favorites.

Life via iphone photos. Life is busy. Life is fun. Life is good. Whoever said that with children the days are long but the years are short. spot on. I'm the mom who desperately wants to hold onto now because now is good. That doesn't mean our days are always easy. I can assure you that this year in DC has been a challenge in more ways than I can count. But I have loved the challenge, and I think it has been an awesome experience for our little family. L. Because I don't want to forget the little things). You are 19 months old, and with each passing month your personality blooms more vibrantly than the last. You recently taught yourself how to put on your red boots. This discovery has been one you are very proud of, and although we don't wear shoes in our apartment, I let you wear your boots when you put them on by yourself. How could I ever tell you no? We have school on Monday and Wednesday mornings. We joined the Fairlington Cooperative Playgroup t...
