http://hlavacikinrome.blogspot.com/2008/07/pictures-of-rome.html
CAS in Rome - Mark. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Motivated by my trip to the Eternal City and fond memories from my time in The Protege Philharmonic. I purchased a copy. Of Respighi's "Pines of Rome" as performed by the CSO. We watched the depressing, but moving DeSica film in our Italian Neo-Realist film class which ultimately motivated the purchase. And the " Fountains of Rome. By Respighi seek to recreate places in Rome through what is referred to as symphonic poetry. Labels: politics and art. Trajan's mar...

CAS in Rome - Mark: Dead in Roma
http://hlavacikinrome.blogspot.com/2008/07/dead-in-roma.html
CAS in Rome - Mark. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Today, I ran across this article. And, it is easy to confuse these acts of transgression, that have their genesis in a rejection of the law, as morally comparable because of this concomitant disregard for the law. So one has to wonder how this happened. Do the Italians really not care at all about a couple of dead Roma children? Were there no Italians around? Did the tourists not know who to call? Thanks, Kristin Scroggin. September 21, 2008 at 1:43 AM.

CAS in Rome - Mark: Damnatio Memoriae tu Geta?
http://hlavacikinrome.blogspot.com/2008/06/damnatio-memoriae-tu-geta.html
CAS in Rome - Mark. Sunday, June 22, 2008. Damnatio Memoriae tu Geta? One of the more fascinating aspects of being in Rome and getting to see art from the Republican and Imperial periods, is that there are many figures who have been excluded. For example, I have not seen a single bust of Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix. Busts of Sulla do exist. There is a bust of the dictator in the Glyptothek. As I discussed in an earlier post, I was assigned to read about this fella, the emperor Septimius Severus. It is i...

Hillary's Ruminations a Roma: Complexity
http://casromehillaryajones.blogspot.com/2009/01/complexity.html
Hillary's Ruminations a Roma. Thoughts, reflections, and experiences during my stay in Rome 9 May-29 June, 2008. One of the Italian ex-pat blogs that I follow, Cross Cultural Moments. My spouse's masters degree is in Systems Science, so this is an area that I'm fairly familiar with, but I think an ecological, systems science perspective on culture is an excellent move. Abbot does a particularly nice job making these connections explicit. Posted by Hillary A. Jones. Labels: On the Web. Hillary A. Jones.

Hillary's Ruminations a Roma: Home at Last
http://casromehillaryajones.blogspot.com/2008/06/home-at-last.html
Hillary's Ruminations a Roma. Thoughts, reflections, and experiences during my stay in Rome 9 May-29 June, 2008. I have finally arrived, safe and sound, in State College after three solid days of travel. Let me just say this: Rome can't hold a candle to the chaos and disorganization that is JFK International. We could read the signs and talk to people at JFK and it was STILL more confusing and disorienting than living in Rome. Posted by Hillary A. Jones. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hillary's Ruminations a Roma. Thoughts, reflections, and experiences during my stay in Rome 9 May-29 June, 2008. One of the blogs I follow, Becoming Italian Word by Word. Has an excellent post today. About Italian cinema, including translations of some classic movie lines into idiomatic Italian. The post also includes the trailer to Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thieves), one of the films we studied during our time in Roma. Posted by Hillary A. Jones. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hillary's Ruminations a Roma: Treviso
http://casromehillaryajones.blogspot.com/2008/10/treviso.html
Hillary's Ruminations a Roma. Thoughts, reflections, and experiences during my stay in Rome 9 May-29 June, 2008. It helps that I get my fill of Italy pics online. A photoblog I follow has been featuring some gorgeous pieces from the photographer's trip to Italy (he's an Aussie). My favorite is a shot from Treviso, of the Treviso Canal. It is definitely on the to-visit-next-time list, just because of his pics from there. Bellisima! The full blog is seriocomic.com. Posted by Hillary A. Jones. Street and St...
