We hate Man United. Arsenal/Tottenham/West Ham (delete as appropriate), we love you. I was in Wanstead on Thursday when I was surprised to find the Red Arrows flying over-head. JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. Some churches – and flowers. Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. A variety of mini-walks and other bits and bobs this week. First up though on Monday, as we somehow survived Storm Angus (! A quick walk by the river to see it had got a wee bit deeper and indeed faster but on the whole was well within usual parameters. I was helping marshall the London Wing Cross country on Sunday and incredibly I found another tree, just off the path, with a little bunch...

JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. Beware of the flowers ‘cos I’m sure they’re going to get you…yeah! Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. Borrowing this week’s title from a John Otway song it reflects the distinctly horticultural series of photos that follow –. I think these are elderberries but I was struck when out on a wander on Monday how fractal the stems are and I wonder what has removed the other berries. And that’s about it. I realise that in retrospect there aren’...Fill in...

A stroll along the River Lea (or Lee – as it says on the OS maps) and I saw these 2 barges near Tottenham Hale. I assume they drop the masts to get down to the Thames. I haven’t been to Claybury Woods for a while so put that right on Tuesday. The colours of Autumn are still stunning. Sunday back at Butlers, and another bacon buttie bites the dust. Jen and Linz went ...

JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. It’s Good News Week. Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. Quite a bit going on over the past week – here are the edited highlights…. To be fair the week got off to a slow and sort of normal start – local walk and photo to match. Of course she got the job! I took Fraser down to Bournemouth to have a look at the university. I have to say it was thumbs up all round so we now have 2 good choices under our belts (I’m living this with him! The photo is of a &#...

JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. Well it seems that we spent an inordinate amount of time in the car last week but as Lindsay said it made it feel like we has a proper holiday. On Monday we went back to Kew where the Autumn colours were spectacular. On Tuesday we drove up to Leeds to see Jess. We went shopping in the city centre which has a plethora of Victorian galleries. More photos on Facebook if you haven’t already seen them. Sunday saw me cookin...

JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. Western Europe’s tallest building features a couple of times this week. Let’s see how…. Not on Monday it doesn’t though. Strictly a local day and it was the first time I’d noticed wild hops in the undergrowth. No Shard on Tuesday either. More local stuff amongst the shopping and housework. You can tell I’m struggling for inspiration when I resort to photographing a pile of logs! We had a lot of rain over thursday nigh...

I was rather impressed by the prize-winning flower displays from the local schools in Epping High St. The evening was enlivened by a visit from Viv and Noel who have moved back to London. Sam came over for the day as well playing 5 a sides with Fraser and his chums. Jenny and Dai came over for dinner to keep our run of entertaining going.

JIMMY'S WEEK IN PICTURES. A photo a day. Posted by Jim Linning. Asymp; Leave a comment. Last exam of the season on Monday. I don’t think I’m allowed to take photos of the exam hall so this picture is most definitely NOT of the exam room but of the Sports Hall with lots of desks that just happen to be in it. Down to Leytonstone on Tuesday for a walk and here is the first Hitchcock mosaic commemorating North by North West. Took him to the cleaners I did. Picture is of The Birds – of course. Completed my 10...
