I’m not too sure where to start with this one as I’m struggling to find words to describe just how epic this race was so I think I’ll just start at the beginning! Well it was more like Autumn 50 for me this time but we will come to that in a bit! This was my first Centurion event which is a surprise as the locations of them are often relatively local to us and I have only heard good things about the organisation and running of their events. So this time next week I will hopefully be sitting somewhere(maybe in bed) with a glass of wine having completed my first iron distance triathlon. It will be my third ever triathlon, the other two being a sprint and an olympic 6 years ago! Well, I can quite honestly say that a few years ago I would have laughed in your face if you told me I was going to do an ironman, but here I am having just completed it in 11hours 47 minutes. I signed up when I was pregnant with Bodi who is now 8 months old- something to motivate me to get fit again! I managed to swim the English Channel when Indie was 11 months old but this was a different kettle of fish; for a start I didn’t own a road bike! The run took in 26 miles of Chateaus and vineyards with 23 wine stops along the way. Fancy dress is compulsory and the theme this year was ‘tales and legends’.
