OtillO Scilly Isles | Lucinda Bayliss

I’m not too sure where to start with this one as I’m struggling to find words to describe just how epic this race was so I think I’ll just start at the beginning! Having never been to the Scilly Isles, the flight over in a tiny plane was the first adventure and gave us an aerial view of the course. The Scilly Isles are made up of 5 inhabited islands, 4 of which we would be travelling across in the race. The swimming was beautiful but on nearly every swim we encountered thick patches of seaweed. Now I...

Autumn 100 | Lucinda Bayliss
https://swimbikerunmum.wordpress.com/2016/10/16/autumn-100
Well it was more like Autumn 50 for me this time but we will come to that in a bit! This was my first Centurion event which is a surprise as the locations of them are often relatively local to us and I have only heard good things about the organisation and running of their events. So, feeling fully prepared, we set off at 10am from Goring. The run course is set up as 4 x 25 mile spurs out and back along various sections of the Thames Path and the Ridgeway, always returning to the hall in Goring. ...I kno...

The Outlaw: 1 week to go | Lucinda Bayliss
https://swimbikerunmum.wordpress.com/2016/07/17/the-outlaw-1-week-to-go
So this time next week I will hopefully be sitting somewhere(maybe in bed) with a glass of wine having completed my first iron distance triathlon. It will be my third ever triathlon, the other two being a sprint and an olympic 6 years ago! I feel fine about completing each individual sport but am getting a bit stressed about how many sticky labels I need for a 12 hour event! 1 x session per week with Tri Surrey. 1 x 14.5km swim down Lake Annecy. 1 x 100 mile sportive. 2 x 100 mile training rides. Please ...

Well, I can quite honestly say that a few years ago I would have laughed in your face if you told me I was going to do an ironman, but here I am having just completed it in 11hours 47 minutes. I signed up when I was pregnant with Bodi who is now 8 months old- something to motivate me to get fit again! I managed to swim the English Channel when Indie was 11 months old but this was a different kettle of fish; for a start I didn’t own a road bike! I was averaging about 20mph and was in 2nd place girl so alt...

Marathon du Medoc – The world’s longest marathon. | Lucinda Bayliss
https://swimbikerunmum.wordpress.com/2016/09/11/marathon-du-medoc-the-worlds-longest-marathon
The run took in 26 miles of Chateaus and vineyards with 23 wine stops along the way. Fancy dress is compulsory and the theme this year was ‘tales and legends’. With a 6.5 hour cut off some jogging would be required but, as Mark and I found out, our time of 5hrs 24 minutes placed us 1800th with a further 6000 people behind us! 8221; and charged through the crowds of Snow Whites and Shreks. As we ticked over 20 miles and started thinking about the home straight the idiosyncratic mix of drunk and hungover r...

To add the the previous list. I told you I had no willpower. London to Brighton Challenge(100km run) – 28th May. I promise this is the last one, for now. Next blog I shall be posting a link for the amazing little boy and his family who I hope to raise funds for throughout the year. One more event…. April 5, 2016. What I’m trying to say is that I feel I can just enjoy a bit of racing and a bit of training now in the lead up to July and there’s always future events in my mind for afters 🙂. April 4, 2016.

I swim, bike and run because I can…. April 27, 2016. April 27, 2016. Many people are not so lucky. People like little Morgan Bishop, the son of a friend, who suffers from many debilitating and life threatening conditions. The following link takes you to a crowdfunding page set up by some of Dana and Paul Bishop’s friends to help the family fund a move to a house or flat that has a garden and a bedroom for Morgan. Please take some time to read their story and, if you can, contribute. One more event…. On Th...
