From the kitchen to the great outdoors. June 19, 2014. At my book club when we read “The Orchardist”. In the fall, I decided warm spiked apple cider would be the perfect drink. Use crock pot, add one gallon of fresh apple cider, slice an apple, take out the seeds, add 2-3 cinnamon sticks and place 6-12 cloves in apple slices, add to pot, simmer until warm. From the kitchen to the great outdoors. Fancy Baby Corn Dogs. June 19, 2014. Be the most popular girl at the party with baby corn dogs. 1 box Jiffy cornbread mix (follow directions — egg, milk, mix). Fill greased mini muffin tin halfway with batter, add 1/6 piece of hot dog to each muffin (ideally Hebrew Hot Dogs). Bake 7-10 minutes at 350. Serve with nice condiments. Amy Sedaris is wonderful and her books are great–filled with comedy and excellent artwork. Inspired by Martha and Amy, I propose a craft movement called #ghettomartha where you try to recreate Martha’s work with the irreverence of Amy. My advice: glitter is never a bad and the more ribbon the better. Lucy’s Pineapple Fritters.

From the kitchen to the great outdoors. June 19, 2014. My mother taught me how to make French Onion Soup before I went to college. She said it’s a great staple because it’s cheap, onions are good for you and it’s easy to make. 2 T Herbs de Province. 6 T Worcestershire Sauce. 6 T Soy Sauce. 1/4 cup red wine – cheap stuff is fine. 2 T cracked pepper. 1-2 cubes bouillon (veggie or beef). Mince garlic, thickly slice onions 1/4 inch. Serve with sliced bread toasted with cheese, garnish with fresh herbs.
