Wordless Wednesday Summertime, c. 1919. Anna Pereksta, seated in center with a bite missing from her watermelon. We are deep into a record setting winter in the United States. Time for a taste of summer. Whatever the disease, those months recovering were a cherished time in a life that was far more work than play. Posted by Susan Clark. Or Romiss...

iowagirlmemories: The New Year Starts With a Bang!
http://iowagirlmemories.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-new-year-starts-with-bang.html
Saturday, January 12, 2013. The New Year Starts With a Bang! This poor old blog has been sorely ignored. The holidays tend to put me in a blue funk. I seem to hibernate and withdraw into my world of books, needlework and genealogy (and taxes). Then along comes the mid-winter blues and things tend to go downhill from there. Sunshine is needed to fuel my brain and it's been missing lately. Yesterday, I received the most wonderful e-mail. My blog had been chosen for the Liebster Blog Award:. Her blog always...

Nolichucky Roots: McAdams Family Record
http://nolichuckyroots.blogspot.com/p/mcadams-family-record.html
A genealogy blog focused on families settling in East Tennessee and the Northern Neck of Virginia with explorations of Rusyn roots. Information about the family of Thomas C. McAdams (1806-1881) of Washington County, TN. Most of the information has been validated by other research over the past 40 years. Nothing has been disproved, though assumptions about relationships, based on this record, have proven to be incorrect. I consider it a reliable source. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Moses and Sarah, bought and sold by Joseph Duncan A Friend of Friends Friday. It is not a surprise the Duncans owned slaves. They appear in census records as slave holders. But they also signed a petition. Around the same time as these sales asking the State Legislature to abolish or reform the slave laws. Here they appear more as slave traders.

Nolichucky Roots: March 2014
http://nolichuckyroots.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
A genealogy blog focused on families settling in East Tennessee and the Northern Neck of Virginia with explorations of Rusyn roots. Saturday, March 29, 2014. Last night I had one of those out of body, out of time genealogy adventures. In the end it was more fiction than science, but what a ride! Sometime later (on FamilySearch) I found him in the 1900 census. Was being hauled into court to support an illegitmate child born to Scintha Ren. This was when my brain took off and the ride become more carni...
