bike wrider: September 2012
http://bikewrider.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 26, 2012. I headed out to do some science today. My commute to the research site follows a glacier fed lake for the first eight miles. Between record snowfall last winter and a healthy amount of precipitation this summer it's been a big water year and the lake is getting too big for its britches. Their are (normally) two roughly parallel, occasionally intersecting, trails along the lake. One for ATVs and one for non-motorized users. Pretty cool if you ask me. Bankfull and Then Some.

Phat Bike Mike in Ottawa: Fat Bike Tire Bite
http://phattirerider.blogspot.com/2015/08/fat-bike-tire-bite.html
I'm a fat guy, looking to use technology to assist in weight loss and becoming active again. Most bikes can't handle my weight but this one can. Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Fat Bike Tire Bite. Driving on fat bike tires has its up and downs. They take pot hole hits really well and don't pop under weight;. They take my weight (300 lbs);. They can be deflated to take snow and mud easier;. Drive through rain and feel like your one dry pavement;. They are big, so you need a special frame (duh! Big Red Clydesdale...

Here are three pictures. These photos were shot for the annual Race for the Cure. It's a fundraiser to help 'fight' breast cancer. Now I'm hunched over a typewriter, I guess you'd call that painting in a cave, And there's a word I can't remember, And a feeling I cannot escape - Bright Eyes. Friday, May 28, 2010. An open letter to blogspot. I wrote this letter to Blogspot.com. Although we've had a wonderful relationship I decided to call it off today. I have a new blog at. Please make the transition with me, dear readers (don't tell blogspot). That all being said, I have one other confession. Yes, there is another. Like I said be...

Cave Paint: What I've Learned
http://elifrancovich.blogspot.com/2010/05/what-ive-learned.html
Now I'm hunched over a typewriter, I guess you'd call that painting in a cave, And there's a word I can't remember, And a feeling I cannot escape - Bright Eyes. Saturday, May 22, 2010. I think the most useful and in certain ways basic skill discussed is how we journalists choose stories. Yeah, this might seem kind of like a no brainer. Most of us have been finding our own stories for a while. Personally I thought I knew what it was all about. When I think back on the stories I've written I notice a trend...

Yeah, that's my cousin. So, I know this won't really come as a surprise to anyone. Considering how freakishly athletic I am it's not really a big deal that my cousin, Marco Sullivan. Was in the Olympics. Apparently he loves to ski and drink Budweiser. Yup We Francovichs are pretty damned talented arent we? Of whip tail liza...

Now I'm hunched over a typewriter, I guess you'd call that painting in a cave, And there's a word I can't remember, And a feeling I cannot escape - Bright Eyes. Tuesday, March 16, 2010. So, that is something I’m continually working on. It’s great to be able to work under pressure, but it’s also important (I think) to have the long term vision to work as you go. Not just last minute. That being said, some pretty cool stuff happened yesterday and today. That all changed yesterday. Darci Sinclair (a stu...

Another perk to going to this class was that it was held in the Arizona State’s The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication…. Oh my god, it was awesome. It had 14 computer labs, dedicated to design, photography, videography and radio. They have their own T.V. station (a PBS affiliat...So, that is i...

Multimodal Alaska Adventures: February 2015
http://multiakadventures.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2015. Let's not talk about climate change. Let's not try to form a pattern out of the weather changes over the last two winters as they can still be considered anomalies. Let's just let the fact that it is raining in February be the elephant in the room. Then again, the rain we're getting might help. Or maybe not. Two weeks is a long time this time of year and conditions can and do and will change. I guess I am a man of habits. Maybe I'm having some early mid-life crisis? Maybe some ...

Multimodal Alaska Adventures: April 2015
http://multiakadventures.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 12, 2015. In Perfect Stillness, I've Only Found Sorrow. It was one of those rides that just beats the crap out of you, but you take it all with a smile because it's just so damned fun. So we decided to just ride around on the downstream side - maybe see about riding out to the Knik river and see what we could see. The general idea was just to do some adventure riding and not worry about anything like getting in miles or anything. Just have fun and enjoy the day. All in all, it was some fun ...
