Ever Nearer: Manna
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2015/07/manna.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. Even a casual perusal of history makes plain the evils of the human heart in war and senseless killings. And now, as militants make plans for murder in the name of God on the basis of religion and our own country demolishes towns and families in the name of freedom, I wonder. What is it? That blatant disregard for human life, the voice of blood crying from the ground. That spirit, it scares me. What is it that transcends that? So what is it? Like the martyrs of the reformation, si...

Ever Nearer: April 2014
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 7, 2014. When one of my patients first told me how he was taught to resuscitate people, I didn't really believe him. But then, he provided proof in the form of this page from his 1950's Boy Scout book:. Although I still can't say that I think CPR is the greatest thing ever, it would seem quite possibly more effective than this. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Ever Nearer: Victory!
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2015/05/victory.html
Saturday, May 9, 2015. I couldn't figure out how to upload an audio file to my blog, so I couldn't upload the midi file I recorded on my Clavinova. But recently I found a less-sung hymn (in our church, at least) that struck me with its beauty. The hymn tune is called VICTORY. It's an old Latin Hymn from the 1600's. This. The Strife is O'er. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! The strife is o'er, the battle done;. Now is the victor's triumph won! Now be the song of praise begun. Let shouts of holy joy outburst,.

Monday, August 20, 2012. Looking out the window the other night while on the phone with my dear friend Allana, I noticed. The grapes are ripe! Wednesday, August 8, 2012. My new house :-D. The view from the back porch. The trees below are all fruit trees: pluot, fig, peach, plums. There are also citrus trees, a pomegranate tree, a persimmon tree, blackberries and many varieties of grapes on the property. The "front" door as seen from the living room. If you turn around from the kitchen, you see this.

Ever Nearer: April 2015

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. I enrolled under a second piano teacher when I was 12. Kevin was an eccentric long-limbed genius who excitedly explained to me how my brain was like an expandable pipe, and the more "water" or information that I put through it, the more it would stretch to accommodate. And I don't want you to think of this note on the page as a 'G'. This note," he tapped his finger on the music in front of me. Kevin noted excitedly that almost every chord in a hymn has at least one note that ch...

Ever Nearer: March 2012
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. I love spring break. And I'm especially fortunate, as mine was/is three weeks long. This spring break I've worked more than not, as the hospital was really busy. But this last week things slowed down, and I meandered through some sewing projects. I don't remember where I'd heard about this blog. Although, the fabric does weigh more than the plastic.). 3 different sizes: and I love the way the grain looks in the bag! Saturday, March 3, 2012. She looked like she was about to cry.

Thursday, August 28, 2014. I loved playing with dolls when I was little, and I love sewing. So several months ago when I stumbled across this. Pattern, I let nostalgia take over and began the project. Today I finished sewing her wig on, and so decided to post pictures:. I tea dyed her skin with hibiscus and black tea. Her head is a yarn ball tied to shape and her face is hand embroidered and simple for imaginary play. She is weighted with a sandbag, and stuffed with lavender essential oil scented wool.

Ever Nearer: July 2012
http://evernearer.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. My MCAT is in a little more than a week. I've been studying a lot lately. but in my "free time" I've been working on a project I'm really excited about! In my area there are a lot of homeless people during the summer. It seems that I see them in nearly every grocery store parking lot. It's always been a conundrum for me to know what to do, because I want to do something helpful. When I give my "spare change" I'm never quite sure if I've actually been a help. All these things above ...
