Just Keep Swimming: September 2013
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 1, 2013. We made a trip to the hospital to visit the Gait Lab and Amputee Clinic the other day. We do this about every 6 months now just to check up on everything. It was a 3 hour visit in total, but the boys got lots of tasty snacks from the staff and new car toys, so we can't complain. :). Keeping entertained while waiting for the team to come in at clinic. They have these great thermo sensor boards that the boys love playing with. And they also love drawing on the whiteboards. And Co...

http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Dylan's 2nd Surgery :(. We went to Amputee Clinic yesterday and received some not so great news.Dylan will be having surgery soon. We just need to figure out when works best for us and call and schedule the surgery to take place in the next 4-6 months. Yikes! So not looking forward to this. In this surgery they will be doing three things:. This is an x-ray of his hip. The line drawn on is where the doctor will be cutting the femur, then rotating it, then screwing the bottom...

Just Keep Swimming: January 2015
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 20, 2015. In fact, he had his 4 year check up yesterday and talked cheerfully with the doctor the whole time. When she said he needed to get a couple shots he said, "That's okay. I'm going to be SO brave. I hope I get 4 shots since I'm 4 now." :) (he only needed 3 and he was a little bummed about that.haha! And he was SO brave. No tears whatsoever. I'd say he's back! He's back to his brave, full of life, a deep smile always in his eyes and on his face, funny, carefree self! His new foot ...

Just Keep Swimming: May 2013
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 19, 2013. Well, hello there! It's been awhile (besides my quick introduction to our sweet Brielle)! A lot has happened in the past few months. Mostly just normal day to day life stuff, but there have been a few extra special things that have happened along the way. We've celebrated a few holidays and had some fun with them! We enjoyed some fun times in the many snow storms we got this year. This picture cracks me up. Dylan said, "I'll catch you, Kaden! We've been super heroes! I had a pretty ...

Just Keep Swimming: Cast Removal Appointment
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2012/02/cast-removal-appointment.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2012. We had an appointment today with Dylan's orthopedic surgeon and prosthetist. He finally had his cast removed and had his first fitting for his prosthesis! The next step has been taken! Before we get to the fun of the appointment, some morning happenings. This morning Dylan kept trying to take his cast off. He kept tugging at it, which he had NEVER done before. It was like he KNEW it was coming off today and he didn't want to wait any longer. :). I LOVE this picture! Once it wa...

Our Journey with Jack...: April 2011
http://townsendjourney.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Our Journey with Jack. Friday, April 29, 2011. Well, it seems like once a month I am updating the blog - perhaps I will get better at doing it a little more frequently! He is still wearing his shoes/bar at night to correct his Left club-foot and will continue to do so untill 2 or 3 years old. I will say, that Jack does very well at night letting us put his shoes on before bed. I will be SO happy, though, when he does not have to wear them - bedtime routine will be SO much easier! Can you believe that!

Just Keep Swimming: Dylan - Our Little Warrior
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2011/07/dylan-our-little-warrior.html
Friday, July 15, 2011. Dylan - Our Little Warrior. I instantly fell in love with this little boy. It was overwhelming. That moment is something that can't be described in words. Such a sweet, peaceful, perfect moment. Bryson and I were all smiles and so happy. So in love with our new little boy. They took him away to clean him up and measure him. He was perfection! The rest is an excerpt from a personal blog entry I wrote in February 2011 regarding Dylan's birth and his diagnosis:. After a lot of cuddlin...

Just Keep Swimming: Surgery #2
http://dylanslegjourney.blogspot.com/2014/06/surgery-2.html
Saturday, June 21, 2014. Oh surgery.I know this was necessary.but it was not fun! Monday, May 19th. Checking out the huge fish tank while we waited for them to take us back. 7:30 AM - They took us back to our pre-op room where we got him in his special jammies and waited for the slew of nurses and doctors to come in to do their business. Dylan was a champ. He smiled and tried really hard to be brave every time a new nurse had to ask him questions or listen to his heart, take his temp, etc. We laid him on...
